CHAPTER 2- DEREK

Derek's pov

Its was past seven at night and there is still half an hour left for my shift to end. I was tired as fuck. After the school and the part-time work at construction site and restaurant, i become totally exhausted. I checked my watch one more time but its feel like time doesn't even passing.

"Hey Rick, I will take the next order. You can go man ,Riya must be waiting." Blake said while taking up the writing pad from me. He was my bestfriend from childhood, i am thankful to have a friend like him.

"My shift isn't over yet and it will very difficult to handle all by yourself alone" I said denying not wanting to burden him.

" Just go man. It's just a piece of cake for me and I can handle it by myself " he said rolling his eyes.

"You sure?" I asked looking around the crowded restaurant with full of customers.It will be difficult for him if i leave him alone.

"Of course, but instead you should allow me to copy your science assignment.what do you say?" He offered with a cocky grin.I should have known nothing will be free when it's comes to Blake.

"Yeah whatever man" i said thinking after a moment.

My apartment was almost near to the restaurant so i decided to take a walk. The night was beautiful. I looked at the stars thinking about how it would have been if my dad and mom was alive. What am i thinking about anyway, it is an impossible wish. I sighed shaking my head clearing all the unwanted thoughts.

"Ricky.. you are late again!" Riya said stomping her little foot complaining about me being late everyday. It's not that i wanted to be late but what can I do?, I can't even complain about my this tragic state.

"Sorry angel . I promise it won't happen again. Are you scared to be alone at home? "I said while caressing her cheeks.

Riya was only ten and i knew she will be scared to be alone at home. Its not like i don't want to spend time with her but after the part time works i have, i will be always late. Blake is the only one who even knew about what i am going through.

" I wasn't scared, I am a big girl. Big girl 's won't be scared. But you promised me , you will take me to park today!"she said with a cute little pout.

" Oh..did i?. I totally forget about that, sorry....Then how about tomorrow we go to the park? I will buy you your favourite icecream too."

" Really? you will buy me icecream?" She said loudly . I chuckled nodding my head looking at how excited she was.

" Riya before that, did you finish your homeworks for today?" I asked her with little seriousness .when it comes to study she was very lazy.

" I...I..that.." she started to stutter makes me to sigh loud .

" Finish your homeworks before dinner, okay. " i said firmly not wanting anymore discussion in that making her to nodd her head before running to her room. I was little strict to her when it's comes to academic. I know she was little but that doesn't mean she should neglect her studies.

After freshen up i went to kitchen to cook dinner for the two of us. Cooking wasn't hard anymore and it becomes one of my hobby too.

"How was your school?"i asked riya when we having the dinner. It was the only time i can talk properly with her. I felt sad thinking about how did i come to this state. I was too busy to even check on her wheather she was doing okay or not.

"It was good. Jon and me played a lot together in the PE class"she says giggled making me to smile at her.

" Oh! That's great."
