Chapter 22

Luke's P.O.V

We were all just sitting on the soccer field in our little group you could say and we all were waiting for the results. When the coach approached us we knew he was about to tell us who was on junior varsity and who was on varsity, we all sat there looking at each other.

"Hey everyone I have came up with a final decision. Everyone worked extremely hard and exiled in certain things. And others not so much. But with careful consideration I finally came to a conclusion." The coach said

He said Junior Varsity and none of our names were called.

"Now for varsity...." He started.

I looked at Ashton and then to Calum then to Michael.

"Max, Nathan, Alex , Dan, Calum, Andrew, Michael, Justin, Luke he said a few more names and finally.....Ashton." The coach said.

I couldn't believe the sigh that came from all of our mouths.

It was like all this pressure was taken off our chest.

I saw Ashton as he had the biggest smile on his face. I knew there was no problem he would get in he was actually really good.

I could see the relief we all had. We all high five and bro hugged.

"I hope to see you all tomorrow after school for the first day of practice!" The coach said as we began to get up.

We grabbed our water and packed our bags back up. I put my blue sweatshirt over my head because it was starting to get cold. When I breathed I could see the small fog coming from my warm mouth. We threw our bag straps over our shoulders .We were walking to the exit about to leave when suddenly.....

"Lucas Hemmings could you come and see me please ?" The coach asked.

We all stopped and I turned around to face him. I looked at the guys for approval. Calum nodded.

"Of course coach, I'll meet you guys up later ?" I said to coach then replying back to the guys

"Okay mate text us later." Michael said while walking away.

I made my way towards the coach.

"Yeah Dad ?" I said.

My dads name is Keith. Yes i know it's crazy but I didn't want anyone to know he was the coach . I didn't want people to think he was giving me these opportunities. I earned them on my own not with his help. Keith doesn't live with me. My parents got a divorce when I was 10 it was so hard on me but I had to suck it up.

"Son I want you to be captain for the variety could you do it again ?" My father asked.

"Yeah that's fine. But did you really have to put Dan and Nathan on the team again ?" I asked clearly disgusted by just saying their names.

"Yes Luke there good and on varsity we need good players."

"Okay whatever "

"Is everything okay son ?"

"Yeah dad."

"Well I won't keep you waiting looks like you got a girl waiting on you." My dad said smirking.

Wait what ? I turned around quickly to see Bella waiting for me to come over.

"Who is she ?"

"Just some girl." Was the only thing I could really said what was I supposed to say oh you know just some girl I think is beautiful and talented and smart and give me butterflies in my stomach and I happen to really like her no I don't think so.
