Chapter 36

Luke's P.O.V

When I saw that wavy brown hair, I felt so much relief, like the weight was lifted off my shoulders.

Bella was safe.

But now the only problem is how can I get her to talk to me ? I know I probably should have stopped Katie before she got closer.

I took off my shoes and set them by the walkway so they wouldn't get sandy, and made my way down the wooden steps to the beach.

I don't even know why Bella is still here is freezing out and she has on really short black spandex shorts and a sweatshirt; and she's even sitting on the wet sand. How is she not freezing ?

I finally got close enough to her. She still haven't notice I was there.

"Bella ?" I asked hesitantly making sure to keep my distance, Im not sure how she'll react happy, mad, sad.

I saw her shoulder stiffen as she turned around.

That's when I saw those golden eyes. Her eyes looked puffy and red, was she crying ?

"Hey," Bella said her voice was so low.

"What are you doing here ?" I asked her.

"Thinking...."

"About what ?..Where you crying ?" I asked I could tell she was and it made me just want to hold her and make the tears go away.

She didn't reply.

"Are you okay ?" I finally asked after the short period of silence which felt like hours.

"Not really....."

"What's wrong ? Do you want to talk about ? " I asked her.

"Kinda... not really... I don't talk about my feelings much...I just need someone to be here for me." She said.

I was still standing behind her. She tapped the sand for me to take a spot next to her. I made my way over to her and I sat right beside her.

"I'm sorry." I finally said.

"Luke it wasn't your fault, it was Katie's for part of it but the other reason I'm upset is something totally different." She said.

I noticed how she has her legs tucked up to her chest. She has goosebumps on her legs from the wind blowing.

"So what's going on ?" I asked her.

"Everything...." She finally admitted and she shivered.

"What do you mean ?"

I took off my black hoodie and placed it over her legs. She didn't stop me which is a good sign right.

"Thanks."

"No problem."

"Well tell me about it." I stated gently, I would never force her to tell me anything she doesn't feel comfortable sharing with me. Thats just something she will have to do on her own when it comes to trusting me, but I will fight fir her trust even if it means I have to push her a little bit.

"You wouldn't understand."

"How do you know ?"

"Because Luke..."

"No Bella don't shut me out."

"Luke the thing is no one and I mean no one will understand. I'm just some teenager who needs to learn how to grown up and forget the past." She groaned and laid her head down by her knees and arms.

"Hey look at me." I said tilting her head up .

She had tears starting in the corner of her eyes.
