Shai POV -

As soon as the door to the emergency room opens, Theo and I are hit with the smell of sterile cleaning products. The odour makes the hairs in my nose stand, and makes me wrinkle my nose in disgust.

"Just a little bit further, baby. To the desk," I tell Theo. I'm supporting majority of his weight - he has his arm around my shoulder, and is pretty much leaning on top of me. My legs are about to buckle at the pressure.

"Hi," the lady at the front desks asks when we reach her. "What seems to be the problem today?" The name tag on her pink scrubs reads 'Rachel'.

"Me," Theo mumbles, groaning in pain as he does.

"I think he has appendicitis." I straight up tell her. No point beating around the bush, right? "He has been complaining of unbearable pain in his lower right abdomen region, and can't stand straight."

"Oh, yes. Oh, yes," she says. Then, "Bring him right in, and I'll get you a nurse as soon as possible." She opens a door and leads us down a hall way and then to an empty bed. "Sir, you can lay here and wait. The nurse will be here in under 10 minutes." Rachel leaves, telling us she will be at the front desk if we need anything.

"Shailene?" Theo calls once she leaves the room.

I pull up a chair next to his bed and lace our fingers. "Yeah, honey?"

"I hate you," he smirks, kissing our fingers.

"I love you more," I grin.

A few moments later, a nurse dress in purple scrubs walks over to us. "Hey, guys. I'm Kellie, big fan by the way," she gushes. I smile. Theo groans in pain. "What seems to be the problem?" Kellie has brown hair, tied back into a sleek pony tail at the back of her head. She has a light complexion and grey eyes.

"I think Theo has appendicitis, but I'm not sure." I repeat everything I told Rachel.

Kellie nods, writing notes down on a clipboard and nodding her head at my words. "First thing I'll do is take a blood test, and then have a feel of your stomach."

Theo squeezes my hand, hard, and groans out in pain. "Oh, god! Someone help me!" His face is twisted and pain is clear.

I lean into him, and kiss his temple. "Shh, baby. I know. It's gonna be okay."

"Theo, I know this might be a little too much to ask, but can you please sit up and stretch your arms out straight," Kellie asks, softly.

Theo nods his head. He lets go of my hand to move himself so he is sitting up with his knees brought up to his chest and his forehead on his knees. He lets his arms hang loosely around his sides.
