Shai POV –

“MERRY CHRISTMAS! MERRY CHRISTMAS!” I sung loudly to the tune of Singing in the Rain. I usually sing ‘Good morning. Good morning!’, but considering it’s Christmas, I thought I’d change it up a little.

Theo groans next to me, and tries to pull me back to his side to go to sleep.

…Did I mention its 5:30am?

I love Christmas. Ever since I can remember, I have always gotten up extra early on a Christmas morning. I would always run downstairs, with my little brother, and always try to wake our parents up. We weren’t allowed to open our presents from ‘Santa’ until everyone in the house was up. Christmas always brings me extra cheer and happiness. I know some people don’t really like Christmas, but I really love it!

“Shai, why are you up this early?” Theo growls. His voice husky and rough from sleep. He is laying on his stomach, with his head facing me. He has on arm across my legs and the other is hanging off the side of the bed.

I lean down and give him a kiss on the lips. It’s not a full on kiss with tongue, it is just longer than usual. “Because, honey,” I pause, taking in a deep breath.
It’s the most wonderful time of the year.
There’ll be much mistltoeing.
And harts will be glowing.
When loves ones are near.
It’s the most wonderful time of the year
,” I sing the carol.

Theo opens his eyes when I finish singing. “That was nice,” he says sarcastically. “Can’t we just sleep until, at least, 8?” he asks.

“Are you kidding me? Theo, Christmas is a time to get up early, celebrate with family and loved ones, check under the tree to see if Santa has left any presents, to ring up people and wish them a ‘Merry Christmas’. Christmas is not a time to sleep all day. Please, Theo, if you get up now, I promise I will come back to bed with you, and we can sleep until 10, if you want, and I will make you breakfast,” I negotiate.

He smiles. “Glad to see you love Christmas,” he says. “But, before you go anywhere,” he pauses, turning away from me. He picks something up, and then turns back to me. “Merry Christmas, Shailene. I love you,” he says, handing me a present.

I unwrap the Christmas wrapping paper and open it to find a long, black, velvet box. I look up at Theo before I open it, and peck him quickly on the lips. I open the box to find a silver charm bracelet with one charm already on it. I pick it up, and look at the charm. It is a small red heart.

“Theo! Thank you so much!” I squeak, giving him a kiss on the lips. I pull back before it can get too far and get out of bed, waiting for Theo at the door.

“Do you like it?” he asks, getting out of bed. He stands up in just his boxers and walks over to me.
