"Empty elevator." Sunny babbles
"Yep"
"Let's get to work." Violet says
We start to make the parachute with a basket to carry us down, once we finish I tell them that something will be locked down there and we need a key but the riddle doesn't say where it is at all.
"You ready?" I ask them
"No" Sunny babbles
"Well if we wait until we're ready we'll be waiting the rest of our lives." Violet and Klaus say
"Let's go." I say and the basket tips over and we start falling down the empty shaft.
"Really Klaus?" I say after he stops screaming
"What? We just fell like 10ft then the parachute kicked in." Klaus said
"Stop fighting and look down!" Violet says
"I see something!" I say squinting
"Baudelaire's? Summer?" A voice calls
"Quagmire's?" I say as we land
"You found us!" Isadora shouts in excitement
"We couldn't have done it without Summer decoding the riddle." Klaus says
"Or without Violets invention and Sunny's teeth." I say
"And Klaus for letting you know we were here with his scream." Violet says and we laugh
"This must have been the locked joy the riddle talked about." I say taking out my book to look at the riddle
"It's so dark I can't see the riddle." I exclaimed
"Here try this." Duncan says and hands me the spyglass
"Ok, thanks?" I say confused
"Turn the dial." Isadora says so I do so and a light shines
"Whoa! Hold on." I say and turn the dial some more and heat comes out
"The spyglass has heat and light." Violet says
"Ok now I can see. It's says, but don't have worry keep you chin up to find the key." I say
"Wait, keep your chin up..." I trail
"Wait the key is up?!" Klaus says annoyed as he deciphered what it meant
"I thought you finished the riddle Summer!" Violet says
"Well I'm sorry!" I yell
"Guys! Stop!" Sunny babbles yells
"We need to get back up." Violet says
"Your leaving?" Duncan asked
"We have to, to get the key." I say
"We will come back." Klaus reassured them
"Now how do we get back up?" I ask
"Wait before you go count Olaf plane to smuggle us out of town at the auction today." Isadora says
"Well, heat rises." Klaus says
"So we will too!" Violet says as she grabbed the spyglass and put it up to the handkerchief and turned it on, and we started to float up.
"What's that smell?" I ask
"I don't know?" Violet says unsure
"Guys, look up!" Klaus says
"It's burning!" I yell
"The heat it's too much!" Violet says and turns off the spyglass and we start to fall.
"VIOLET ARE YOU NUTS?!" I shout
"If I turn it off then back on it should stabilize the heat!" She shouts and turns it back on and we stop falling. After 2 minutes of floating I look up and see it burning.
"GUYS ITS BUR-" I was cut off by the handkerchief blowing up and we get blasted up and we grab on to the edge of the elevator floor hanging, or in Sunny's case bitting onto the elevator floor.
"Violet and Klaus you go up and get Sunny I can hang on longer than she can!" I yell and they start to get up, Violet gets up first and help Klaus but by the time Klaus is up Sunny yells
"SLIPPING!" And she falls but I catcher with one hand and I am dangling by one hand holding onto the elevator floor and holding onto Sunny.
"SUNNY!" They yell as I catch her
"Sunny grab my leg as tight as you can!" I say and when she does I life my leg up high and put her on my hip, Violet is reaching down to grab her and pull her up.
"Take Sunny!"
"I got her!" Violet says
"HELP!" I yell as my hand slips
"SUMMER!"
"Hang on! We will get you up!" Klaus says and grabs my hand and starts to pull me up. When I am up I am breathing heavily.
"I am NEVER using an elevator again!" I say
"Esme is coming!" Violet says
"We have to tell the Quagmires what is going on without Esme knowing." Klaus says
"I got this. ESME your BACK we came back early because we didn't feel good, SO WE CAN'T wait to hear about the meal now that you have COME BACK." I say then press the button to close the elevator door
"Why did you yell on some words?" Klaus whispers
"Esme thinks I am just talking but the Quagmires hear the loud words only since they are so far down. They heard 'Esme back so we can't come back." I whisper back
"Ok well let's go." Violet says and we walk in the penthouse
"Esme we need to tell you something." Klaus says
"Well what is it?"
"Is Gunther here?" I ask
"No he had to run an errand."
So we tell her what we found and how the Quagmires are at the bottom of the elevator shaft and Gunter is count Olaf.
"Well let's go to the police right away!" Esme says and walks out and we fallow her
"It's such a shame to have to walk down all those stairs." She complained
"I know we'll take the elevator!" She said and opened the right elevator door and pushed us down the shaft. We all scream at the sudden motion of falling.
