Secret Cove, Littleroot Town OutskirtsMost of the week had been productive for May and the others. Most of them managed to get a decent grip on their Powers, but a few hadn't even begun to train. Paul and Dawn, having decided to join Team Permafrost, were unable to join the others in training, as April has yet to arrive. Even Ash had been trying to teach Brock and Serena how to use Aura, and while Serena made some progress, it wasn't much. Brock hadn't made any real progress either. They hadn't even been given their Powers yet, and everyone could tell the two were anxious.
To an extent, everyone felt anxious. They all knew that each day that passed by brought them one step closer to having to fight for their lives, much less for the world.
But, finally, the soon to be Permafrost Lieutenants' hopes were answered. April had finally arrived. Everyone greeted her when she arrived, returning her Swanna to it's PokéBall. She looked at Brendan, who gestured to Paul and Dawn. She nodded and approached the two.
"I'll say it outright: I'm very to the point," she told them. "And, I'm going to push the both of you hard. You have a lot of catching up to do. Do you still want to join Team Permafrost?"
"Yes," Dawn said firmly. Brendan was surprised to not hear any hesitation in her voice. He smirked.
"April's gonna love her," he thought, seeing a faint smile on April's lips.
"We won't let you down," Paul vowed.
"Hmmph, we'll see, won't we?" April responded, extending her hands. Dawn and Paul grabbed hold and she closed her eyes as the quartz gem in the circlet on her head glowed.
"The Pact," she said, her eyes still closed. "Is sealed."
April's eyes shot open and ice formed on Dawn and Paul's hands, rapidly travelling up their arms and spreading across their chests. The two tensed and had no time to react before they were frozen solid.
"What the hell was that!?" Iris exclaimed as she stared at her two frozen friends.
"They have fifteen seconds to break out," April shrugged. "All they need to do is utilize their Powers."
"And if they don't!?" Iris demanded.
"Then they'll be frozen," April shrugged. "It's ice, it's nothing special."
"They'll die!"
"No, they won't," April yawned.
"And how-"
"Because they're about to break out in five... Four... Three... Two..." Dawn's arm moved, shattering the ice, before she then fully broke free. Paul followed suit. The two were panting, likely more because they weren't able to breathe when they were frozen.
"Excellent," April congratulated them. "You both survived the test. You're now officially members of Team Permafrost. Now, let's get to training, shall we?" Dawn and Paul nodded in agreement. April walked on over to Brendan.
"I'm going to like them," April noted.
"I know," Brendan replied as she walked off. He grabbed her arm. "How's Jess?"
"She's recovering, but she's resting. My orders. Maybe I'm being to overprotective, but I ordered her to rest and take it easy as much as possible."
"I take it you haven't had her try to use her Powers yet?"
"No, I haven't. Right now, she's exhausted enough. I don't want her to exert herself further by using her Powers. I want her to rest until she's as close to fully healed as she can be."
