Mt. Silver
The flight to Mt. Silver was rather uneventful, but despite their Pokémon flying at top speed, it still took them over five hours to reach Mt. Silver. Skar slowed her speed, and stretched out her legs, landing on the ground safely. Phoenix, Wally's Altaria, landed shortly thereafter, with Ash's Staraptor close behind.
"Thanks, Skar," Brendan said, giving the Steel-Type a hug, then helping May down. He fished around in his pockets and then tossed some Pokéblocks her way. After she finished eating, she sat down on the ground, and let out the light metallic screech that was the yawn of a Skarmory. Leaving their flying types to rest, Brendan led the others to Red's house.
"So, you're saying the Trainer Legend built a house at the top of Mt. Silver?" Ash asked, impressed. Mt. Silver was notorious for being a cold, unforgiving place, where only the strongest trainers can get by. "Must be tough; living out here, at the mercy of the elements, and being under constant risk from wild Pokémon."
"Well, first off, it hasn't been like that up here for quite some time," Brendan told him. "It's a challenge living here, no doubt, but the Pokémon aren't a threat to us, or to Red. Red, actually, is the reason for that. And "house" is a bit of a strong word. We're almost there, so you'll see what I mean." He saw a human shadow in the corner of his eye. Steven must've noticed it as well, as Brendan saw him activate his Item. Brendan followed suit, and began to form a fireball in his left hand.
"May, you and Wally stay back,"Brendan said. "Protect Ash and Claire. Steven and I will deal with this."
"We can sense that there's two of you," Steven growled. "So come-"
"Wait, Steven," Brendan interrupted him. "Focus. There's something familiar about their energy. Blue! Yellow! It's just us!"
A lanky, spiky haired man wearing a jasper pendant leapt out from behind a boulder, followed by a short-stock blonde haired girl sporting a sun hat.
"Oh, thank Arceus," Blue sighed, relieved. "When we sensed the aura of five people, one of which was extraordinarily powerful, we thought we were under attack." He grabbed the pendant he was wearing. "Speaking of new faces, I don't remember seeing those two before." He looked at May and Ash. "Name's Blue, I'm the Patron of Moltres."
"I'm Yellow of Viridian Forest, Patron of Mesprit."
Ash and May introduced themselves as well, and shortly afterwards, they continued their walk.
"You look a lot like my friend, Gary Oak," Ash told Blue.
"No shit, you know Gary? He's my little brother! How's he doing?"
"He's been doing fine, as far as I know. He's a Ranger, now."
"It's good that he achieved his dream," Blue replied. "I haven't been able to keep in touch with him, on account of my duties as a Patron."
"Speaking of Patrons," May spoke. "Isn't Mesprit a Sinnoh Legend?"
"Legendaries aren't localized to a particular region," Yellow explained. "Like us, some of them explore the world, occasionally searching for a Patron."
"Some Legends search for their own Patron?"
"Indeed. I was chosen under rather.... unusual circumstances. I have the ability to heal and communicate with all kinds of Pokémon. Well, technically I can read their minds, but that helps me communicate with them. And Mesprit is the embodiment of emotion. When we encountered each other, it was completely by accident. But we just.... linked, I guess is the best way to describe it. There was no battle. No questions. She just gave me this kunzite ring, and I already knew what it was, and what it could do. As the Patron of Mesprit, I can communicate with Pokémon on a far greater level than I could previously."
"Hey, Blue," Brendan asked. "Why are you guys here on Mt. Silver? I thought you guys lived around Viridian forest."
"Well, Yellow and I are currently under self exile. Things kinda got dicey back home. News of those killings kinda put all the Patrons in Kanto on edge. Now a lot of us are kinda staying in groups. It's degrading, for both us and our Legendaries, but what can ya do? 'Least we've been given refuge here on Mt. Silver, surrounded by friends. We were quite surprised to learn that Red and Green, little ol' Leafy, actually got married. They were also surprised when Yellow and I told them that we were engaged."
"That's against the rules," Steven muttered.
"Pfft, it might be against rules," Blue scoffed. "But nature still hasn't spiraled out of control because I put a ring on her finger. If there's one rule I wouldn't mind seeing changed, it's that one. It's completely useless. Moltres told me that the Legendaries don't really care."
"Mesprit also agrees that it's rather silly for us Patrons to abstain from romantic pursuit. After all, we're still human."
Steven was about to say something else, but gave up with an exasperated sigh. He then changed the subject.
"Blue, I've known you for a long time. You always curse. What's with the sudden political correctness?"
"Simple. Brendan and May brought a kid. I'm not gonna curse when there's impressionable minds around."
"You cursed twenty minutes ago!"
"Hey, slip ups are gonna happen. Sue me. I'm more interested in what happened to you. You used to be pretty carefree way back when."
"My reasons are my own," Steven retorted.
"Figures," Blue muttered. He turned to Brendan and May. "So, what about you two? Where do you guys stand on the whole romance thing?" Brendan cast a quick glance back at Wally, who covered Claire's ears. Ash noticed that.
"Should I give you guys some privacy or something?" He asked.
"Better idea. Can you take Wally and Claire and continue on ahead?" Brendan asked back, then he leaned in closely. "The summit's not far from here. We'll join up shortly. What's about to be said isn't appropriate for Claire to hear. Or for any kiddies, in general."
"Alright, fair enough," Ash replied, giving him a knowing glare. "Wally, let's go!"
"Right. Come now, Claire. They've got to discuss something private."
"Right-o, Uncle Wally," she replied happily. Eve also agreed.

Mt. Silver (near the summit).
"YOU TWO DID WHAT!?"
"Well that's the reaction I was expecting from him," Brendan thought. "I'm glad Claire was out of earshot. At least Blue and Yellow are getting a kick out of it."
Blue and Yellow were laughing before Steven flipped his lid. But him freaking out pushed them over the edge, and now they were uncontrollable.
"I don't see what the problem is," Brendan said aloud. "Nothing cataclysmic happened."
"THAT'S NOT WHAT I'M MAD ABOUT," Steven snapped, then quickly recollecting himself. "I'm angry that you and her," he threw a judging glare at May. "The Patrons of two rival Legendaries, were intimate with each other."
"First off," Brendan growled, eyes glowing. An uneasy atmosphere stirred up around the five Patrons. "Like Blue and Yellow said, our Legendaries don't give a shit about what us humans choose to do. Second, you can yell at me all you want, but leave May out of it. Your problem is with me, not her. Third, as I've told you before; hell I've even told Groudon this, I don't care about their rivalry. It's pointless."
Steven said nothing, and just stormed off, heading up the mountain. Brendan just sighed in frustration. He and Steven used to be good friends, but something had happened to him years ago. Brendan had tried to understand it, but he'd basically shut everyone out of his life. He'd gotten... better, but he wasn't himself anymore.
"What his problem?" Blue muttered. "Brendan, you and him used to be good friends, right? What's going on with him?"
"It's been five years, and still I don't know," Brendan said, defeated. "As someone who used to be his friend, I just don't know. He never told me anything. Something changed about him, and to be honest, I'm done hoping the old him will come back. It's not going to."
"So you're just going to give up on him?"
"I didn't say I was going to give up on him, but he doesn't see me as a friend anymore. And I've tried to think of a way to change that, but nothing. He just keeps getting colder and more distant."
"Do you think he could be losing control of his powers?" Yellow asked.
Brendan thought for a moment.
"No... This has been an issue for the past five years. Something happened to him."
"He used to have a Team, didn't he?" May asked. "Like how you have Brimstone?"
"There were only a few people he kept in contact with, and I wouldn't exactly call them a Team. I don't think he even talks with them anymore," he shook his head. "In any case, it's a topic for another time. We've been standing around for far too long. We're wasting time."

Sorry if this chapter was short guys, and that it's pretty late. A lot of stuff came up in my life. Hopefully this doesn't happen again for awhile.
