A quick disclaimer: I am both sorry and not sorry for the "joke" I make in this chapter. You'll know it when you see it... Trust me. And no, it's not offensive, but it is a moldy one...
-Myst.
Oh and this is gonna be a longer one than usual....

Monday, October 16th, 3:50 p.m.
Tree of Beginning (Brendan, Steven, and May)

"Ack!" A Thorn Trainer coughed before falling onto the stairs, unconscious.

"Ugh," Steven growled, sending two more Thorn Trainers flying into the air with a powerful gust of wind. "Is there any end to these guys?!"

"I'm starting to wonder that myself!" Brendan agreed, slamming another Thorn Trainer into a wall, knocking him out. He then turned his attention to three other Thorn Trainers. In an instant threw a fireball at them, and the narrow staircase they were prevented them from avoiding it. The Thorn Trainers were thrown back, scorched, but alive. Probably. "That makes ten for me, what about you, Stone?"

"One moment," Steven said, grabbing another Trainer and beating him down, before sending him flying into another three Trainers that were climbing the stairs to reach them. The four thugs tumbled down the stairs, their surprised shouts turning into pained groans. "With those fools included, I'm up to thirteen."

"Are you guys seriously making this a competition?" May asked, already knowing the answer was yes.

"Nothing wrong with some friendly competition," Brendan smiled, beating two more people down as they continued climbing the stairs. They were trying to get to the area where the Lieutenants would've been seated. If they could get to higher ground, then they'd be able to assist their fellow Patrons from above. "The loser buys everyone drinks after this is over."

Suddenly, three Thorn Trainers leapt down from the staircase above, getting between Brendan, Steven, and May.
Before either of them could react, May sprung into action. She threw one of the thugs into the wall, stunning him, but not incapacitating him. She then turned and grabbed the second thug's arm and dragged him in front of her, making him take the full brunt of a punch to the jaw from the third Trainer. The now unconscious Trainer slumped to the ground, likely with a broken jaw. May then narrowly avoided being slashed with a knife by the third Trainer.

"Well that's not very sporting," she growled, a watery tendril appearing out of her shoulder. She grabbed the man's arm and dislocated it, making him drop the knife. She kicked him below the belt. The man let out a scream of pain, only to then have his head slammed into the stone wall. The now unconscious man was grabbed and May sent him flying with a Water Pulse. The third Trainer, now no longer stunned, pulled out a knife, shouted in fury, and leapt at May. May's tendril grabbed the man around the waist, but he was still close enough to scratch her shoulder with the knife. She winced, and the tendril slammed the man into the ground with immense force, before slamming him into the stone wall of the staircase with comparable force. The man coughed blood and fell to the floor, unmoving. May looked at her shoulder, to check her wound. She was relieved to see that it was relatively shallow, and while it had been bleeding, it wasn't anymore. She quickly commanded water to flow to her fingers, and she dragged it over her wound, healing it in seconds. She then noticed that Brendan and Steven were looking at her, amazed.

"What?" She asked, puzzled. "It was a just a scuffle."

"Where the hell did that come from!?" Steven exclaimed. "You just took out three thugs, two of them armed, like it was nothing! And you didn't even hesitate! Where was that when we sparred!?"

"Well, I was tired from using my powers for the first time. But I'd been thinking about how I could fight normally. So, I used some of the self defense lessons I took in between contests and merged them."
