Inside May's head
May stared on as Kyogre's form rose from the depths. His yellow eyes glowed with  intensity; he wasn't a Legend for nothing.
"So, our deal is now sealed by blood. I'll guess I'll grant you my power. I'll show you true power! Now, May Maple, you are my Patron! Water shall obey your will! But, like I said before, DO NOT MAKE ME REGRET THIS. If you do, there will be consequences!" His eyes glowed a vibrant yellow, and slowly began to engulf the entire room. May winced as the light overwhelmed her.

Brendan and the others saw May's eyes shoot open. Her blue irises flashed a bright yellow, before returning to their sapphire coloring.
"Welcome back," Steven muttered.
"Wha? How long was I out for!?"
"Don't mind him," Brendan said, glaring at Steven. "Only a minute passed. He's just being an asshole."
"A minute!?" She exclaimed, confused."It felt like an hour passed!"
"Well, time travels faster in your head. It's kind of like zoning out, but instead of time flying by, it moves like a Slowpoke."
"That's weird. But, I digress. What's the first lesson?"
"Alright, well," Brendan began. "The first lesson for you is going to be how to "jump", using your powers to get higher than normal. Your goal will be to reach the top of the metal shelf we're next to. Like this." Brendan leapt into the air, and flicked his wrists. Small gouts of flame appeared, and propelled him to the top. He landed on his feet, kneeling to compensate for the impact. He looked down to them. "You guys coming up here? Perfectly safe, I assure you."
"Yeah, yeah," Steven snapped. He kneeled, gathering air beneath his feet, and then launched himself into the air. He made it to the top in a single leap.
"Pfft, showoff," April snorted, forming a pillar of ice beneath her feet to reach the top. Once she got to the top, the pillar melted into water. "There, now you also have some water you can use to get up here as well, May! You actually don't even need to jump. We just call it that for lack of a better word!" She shouted down to her. "Just focus!"
"Got it!" She shouted up to them.
"Alright, just focus on the water, and on the bracelet," she thought, closing her eyes. She walked forward, until she was standing in the puddle. Then, she opened her eyes, and, the water began to slowly rise beneath her feet. She felt the water begin to carry her to the top of the metal shelf. Once she was at the top, she stepped off of her watery elevator.
"Not bad, May," Brendan said. "Not bad at all. Next, you need to learn how to increase your speed with your power. Like so." In a flash, he was suddenly at the far right side of the warehouse. All that was left in front of May was a cloud of ash and smoke.
"How did you just-"
"Simple. I combined my power with my speed. I moved so fast, it left a cloud of ash and smoke. It's fairly simple to learn, all you really need to do is focus your powers to help you accomplish a task. In this case, increasing your speed until you can move so quick, you literally leave a cloud of smoke behind you. Or, in your case, water, I suppose."
"You call this simple?" She asked.
"Yep. Not to mention, evasion is vital in combat. If you can evade your opponent, you don't take damage, and you can exhaust your opponent."
"All you have to do is focus on your feet, and let your powers do the rest," Steven said, disappearing in a gust of wind. He reappeared on the ground, sitting on an old table.
"It's completely safe, I assure you," April added, disappearing in an icy cloud. She reappeared on the ground as well.
"Alright, first, find a target." She scanned the warehouse, and spotted a shelf with a stack of boxes. "There. Next, move forward and let my powers do the work." She sprinted forward, and she she noticed a large cloud of mist engulf her. In seconds, she was standing on the stack of boxes.  "And I'm completely dry. My clothes aren't wet. That's handy."
"You're a quick learner, May," Brendan smiled.
"Yeah, at running away," Steven said.
"Hey, she needs to learn evasion before anything else, airhead," Brendan retorted. "That's how I learned."
"Well, let's teach her how to fight," Steven said. "She's already learned how to run. Now, she needs to learn how to fight."
"Alright, fine," Brendan relented. "Alright, so you and April versus May and myself? Or should it be a free for all?"
"What do you think, May?" April asked. "This is going to be your first sparring match."
"Um, I think I prefer the team option..... Especially since I don't know how to use my powers to fight."
"I can tell you what to do, mortal," Kyogre rumbled. "Just rely on the infinite power and water stored in your Item."
"Only if you promise you won't hurt anyone here, please." Kyogre only grunted in reply.
"Very well, teams it is. Brendan and May versus Steven and myself," April said. "Alright, we only have two rules: no killing and try to avoid breaking bones. Even though we can heal ourselves, broken bones are just annoying to fix. Not to mention, they take longest to heal."
"Got it," she said.
"Alright, let's begin," Steven called up to them. He stood up, and jumped up onto the metal shelf. He then made his way over to the shelves on the far right of the warehouse. April followed suit.
"Alright," Brendan whispered to her. "You fight April, because she'll hold back for you, until you get the hang of it."
"And Steven won't?"
"Steven's an ass. He believes the only way to learn is for every lesson is for those training to not pull their punches."
"Why's that?"
"He used to have more than two people on his Team. Let's just say that something happened that kind of made him cold to the rest of the world."
"But-"
"Enough. They're getting ready to fight," Brendan shifted his stance to prepare to fight, and fire began to engulf his hands and feet. His irises flashed from their usual color to an intense and vibrant light red. May tried to follow suit, but Kyogre reprimanded her.
"Relax your stance mortal, do not try to mimic the stance of another. And especially not the stance of a Patron of Groudon! Just take a deep breath in through your nose and exhale out of your mouth."
May did as Kyogre ordered, and saw water engulf her hands. Then she felt a shooting pain in her back. Then two watery tendrils appeared out of the corner of her eyes.
"You'll get used to the pain from using your powers. But, I've never seen powers that give someone tendrils shooting out of their shoulder blades. Interesting. I wonder if they can be used for defense, or if they're just there to supply you with water."
"Well, let's find out!" She declared, lunging towards April. Steven lunged at her, only to be caught by Brendan.
"Sorry, mate," he smirked, grabbing Steven's shoulder. "You're fighting me instead."
"All right, but I hope you don't expect me to go easy on you," he growled. "Flying type move: Gust!" He made an "X" with his arms, crossing at the wrists, and snapped them to his sides again, releasing a large, and visible, gust of wind at Brendan.

Brendan and Steven's fight
The gust of wind sent Brendan flying backwards, heading spine-first towards a metal shelf. He quickly recovered, and used his flames to reposition himself, barely missing the metal shelf.
"Damn, that was close," Brendan thought, he drew a hand across his cheek, and grinned. "Alright then, I see he used the Gust to whip up some wind around here. Let's see how some embers feel to him now." He drew in a breath, and raised his right hand. "Fire-type move: Ember!"
To be continued next chapter.
Yeah, sorry if this one was a little short, but I want your guys' opinion on the combat stuff. So, I decided to play it safe, rather than write 2-3,000 words of fighting only for you guys to hate it.
I hope I did good, and I hope you guys like it!
-Myst out.
