Outside the Tree of Beginning (Brendan)"There's absolutely no way that you'll get out of that unscathed," Groudon said. "And we'll have to use a lot of Energy to finish this."
"I know," Brendan responded grimly, propelling himself forward in a cloud of smoke. "I need to get him to give me an opening. If I can get him from behind I'll rake his eyes with my fingers."
"You think smoke can protect you from me!?" Bogdan taunted him, throwing a clothesline to catch Brendan.
"There!" Brendan slid across the rough, cracked ground and right under Bogdan's clothesline. Once he was directly behind him he launched himself up and grabbed Bogdan from behind, wrapping his right arm around his neck. He punched Bogdan in the temple a few times before coating his left hand in flames. He grabbed put his left hand over Bogdan's right eye and blinded it. But before he could do the same thing to his other eye, Bogdan wrestled free from Brendan's grip and grabbed his arms. He swung Brendan around to face him, and Brendan quickly grabbed a fistful of ash, dust, and dirt before he was face to face with Bogdan again.
"You're dead, Birch!" Bogdan growled, his one good eye beginning to glow. "Techno-" Brendan cut him off by hurling the fistful of ash, dust, and dirt in his face.
"Not again! Son of a bit-" Brendan cut him off again by socking him in the jaw. Bogdan cursed more, and threw Brendan into a rock before turning away and rubbing his good eye, trying to get the debris that had been introduced to it out.
"Fighting dirty, eh, human?" Groudon asked. "That's usually not like you."
"Eh, he pissed me off," Brendan retorted, wincing. "Seriously, though, he was probably expecting me to use fire, so he would've used Protect."
"So was it a "heat of the moment kinda deal or just you running out of ideas, and/or Energy?"
"A mix of all of the above, if I'm being honest. Anyways, it was a temporary solution, to a temporary problem."
"Is it time to end this fight?" Groudon asked.
"Yeah, let's do this," Brendan growled and stood back up. "Groudon, lend me more of your power!" He ran towards Bogdan with as much speed as he could muster. He coated his left arm in flames, and condensed the inferno into a ball that rested in his hand. Bogdan spun around, still barely able to see and used Metal Claw, thrusting the steel claws into Brendan's right shoulder. He clenched his teeth in pain as he felt blood roll down his shoulder.
"Bogdan Elliot, Patron of Genesect, for breaking the truce, and attacking the Tree of Beginning" Brendan spat, adding silently, "And for threatening May, Wally, and Claire."
"You won't stop me here, Birch! Once I'm done here I'm beading back to the Tree to finish what I started!"
"That'll be difficult when you're dead!" Brendan spat as he slammed his hand, and the ball of fire, directly into Bogdan's chest. For a few seconds, nothing happened, but seconds later the ball of fire erupted, sending out a cone of flame that tore through the Patron of Genesect.
Brendan grabbed Bogdan's Item of Power, a black leather belt with amethyst studs, and yanked it off of him before Bogdan's body was sent flying. Brendan breathed, falling to one knee, and apply pressure to his wounded shoulder. He was aware of another Aura close by.
"You can come out now," Brendan said in a loud voice as he healed his shoulder. Hearing no footsteps in response, he growled. "I know that you were watching us Jack. That was a pretty dumb idea, you could've gotten seriously hurt."
