Adelaide's POV
"So what all went down between Azura and Ilona Maher today?" Alex asks as we sit down in the suite that Azura got for the national team at Hard Rock Stadium.
Azura's rugby match is happening in like 5 minutes.
I'm excited.
"Well that had some sort of twitter beef." Athena say then she leans from the row behind and shows Alex and I her phone while I eat some food.
I'm sat in-between my twin and Jucinara.
"Azura first tweeted that she's excited for tonight's game and can't wait to see all the fans here." Athena says. "A bunch of the USA rugby players replied that they couldn't wait either then Ilona Maher tweeted Azura and asked if she's still sure she made the right choice by playing for New Zealand instead of the US."
"Dumb question." Jucinara mumbles.
"Azura said she's never regretted switching from USA to New Zealand and that if anyone was to blame for her switching, it was USA Rugby who rejected her when they found out Azura was born intersex." Athena says. "Ilona then asked if Azura would switch allegiances if she could."
"And how did Azura answer?" Alex asks.
"Like this." Athena says then she shows us the picture Azura posted in response to Ilona's question.
Azura posted a picture of her framed jersey and silver medal from the 2016 Olympics, her framed jersey and winners medal from the 2017 Women's Rugby World Cup, and her framed jersey and gold medal from the 2020 Olympics.
"And she answered the question with one word." Athena says. "Nope."
"People need to learn not to get into an argument with Azura." Emma says.
"This is gonna sound bad, but I didn't know there was this many rugby fans in America." Kelley says.
There's around 40 thousand people here to watch the game.
"There's a lot of fans in America, but the large crowd may be due to Azura playing against the US." Jucinara says.
"Was it a scandal in the rugby world that she chose to play for New Zealand?" I ask.
"No it was a scandal that USA Rugby declined to call up Azura." Jucinara says. "But after Azura joined New Zealand a lot of the USA rugby fans sent hateful messages to her."
"Geez." I say.
"Holy Shiitake mushrooms." Jucinara says.
Can't cuss with little kids around.
"What?" Christen asks.
"Azura's leading the Haka." Jucinara says then all of us sit in silence as Azura lead the Haka.
"That's still so sick." Tobin says.
"Maybe we should do the Haka." Lindsey says
"No." Everyone says in unison.
I'm actually surprised that Azura invited Lindsey, Sonnett, and the other ladies who slut-shamed her to this game.
"You just can't keep your foot out of your mouth." Someone says.
"I probably should have recorded that." I say.
"I got it." Athena says. "Also the games recording at home."
