Now, this was something... he did expect to happen at one point. As the soul in 963-1... it was going to happen, where his old body would die. Still, as they walked, Izuku felt... clunky. As if he was wearing clothes that weren't the proper fit. Shoto was quite a bit taller than his old self, so that made sense, in a way. That and his new body's hair kept falling into his eyes. He much preferred the bush head he had before, at least it would stay out. But, in the end, he couldn't complain. Because he was realizing that he could potentially access Shoto's very, very powerful quirk. The pendant was on his chest clear as day as the two of them walked back to Isa's office. Looking to, she asked her son's soul: "Any... side effects? Dr. Bright didn't have any, but as this is your first... takeover..."
Shaking his head, he found the movements were still a little... exaggerated. "No... it just feels like I am wearing very baggy clothes that don't fit right. I'm sure I'll get used to them."
"I see..." The blonde thought for a moment, "Well, it seems like your soul is tailored to your body, although you can get adjusted to a new one if needed. Good to know."Sitting down opposite her, the now dual haired boy asked: "So... is there... any reason why you gave me Shoto's body in the first place?"
Continuing through a door, a few other people raised eyebrows at seeing her speak to their former prisoner... until they saw the amulet on full display around their neck. "The O5 council considered your proposal. They accepted."Raising an eyebrow, he asked, surprised that they actually accepted that proposal. "Really? I... I didn't think it'd be taken seriously."
Smiling, she looked down onto his borrowed form. "They took into account your loyalty and your track record for producing results. So, here's how things will run in the future. If you are ever incapacitated for extended periods of time, or want a change of pace, you can request a particular person for you to inhabit. From what I've seen so far, the amulet's properties have changed, and the file needs to be amended. Before it would copy the personality and neural pathways. Now it is just a method to transfer your soul. That makes containment different. I won't say if it is easier or more difficult, just with, as I said before, different challenges.""Right." Izuku could imagine how secrecy procedures would need to be altered with any change to how his amulet worked... it still worked through direct contact, but the internal mechanisms were definitely different. There were so many variables to consider...
However, Isa brought Izuku back to "The most important thing is if you can learn to control Todoroki's quirk."
The greenette nodded eagerly, after all, before his arrival at the Site, he was absolutely in awe of quirks. The fact he could potentially use any of them, under the right circumstances... "Of course! I have his body... It's just about learning what impulses control it. I'll have to see later..."
She gave a definite time, reminding him that this wasn't optional. "Tomorrow. You have the time, we have the space, and a mastery of your new power is crucial to the mission they have given you."
"Of course."
Arriving outside his room, she changed the topic from business to more personal matters. "But, for now, I know that Eve was heartbroken to hear of your condition.""I realize that." She wasn't showing any desperate signs, but her eyes expressed pain still. She didn't like that he was in Todoroki's body.
"I'll leave you two to sort out yourselves. I have things to do." The blonde strode away, towards her office, leaving the two of them outside their room.
Watching her leave, Izuku turned to his room, and swiped his card, opening the door. Once the two were inside, Eve went and lay on the bed while he asked. "Is everything alright?"
It was clear her feelings were conflicted as she replied, "I don't know... do you still remember me?"
Pulling over his chair, he sat on it. "Of course I do. I remember how you gave me the first tour, I remember how you supported me. I remember how I found how much you cared through your sleep..."She blushed at that. "But... you're not... you..."
Sighing, he pulled over his office chair, whirled it around, and sat down on it. "It's true. My body won't be ready for a few months. After this is all done, I'll move back to that one."Looking up at him with a glimpse of hope: "You promise?"
Laughing at the implication that he wanted to keep Shoto's body, he replied immediately. "I do."Smiling fully for the first time since the day, she replied, "Good. Because I'm not kissing you until you do. I fell in love with Izuku. Not Todoroki."
He smiled, and crossed his arms, blushing at that honest profession of love. "That's fine by me."
The next day, he was in a large empty room. This was an empty containment cell, free to use for the moment. A key thing about the Foundation is that they prefer not to rely on quirks, even if it would be more helpful to do so. So while they may allow MTF to utilize quirks on the field... it wasn't common for them to do so. Izuku was in the room, trying to activate the quirk, and to be honest, Eve thought he looked like a bit of an idiot. It was adorable to hear Izuku mutter as he does when he's trying to figure out a problem. However, he was onto something, as he realized he was full of Todoroki's memories. Searching through them, he found that it was more intuitive than he realized. Letting a hand go forward, fire surged from his left, and ice from his right. The first step!
As he practiced, he was able to unlock abilities that Shoto never considered. Can I create a smokescreen by compressing ice and fire together? Yes! Can I use steam to propel myself? Yes! Can I use both extremes at once? Yes! What are the extreme temperatures I can reach? 2 and 400 Kelvin. Can I sustain them? Only for 10 seconds.
After his experimentation, he was exhausted. Heat and cold, even if they balance each other out... leave a terrible toll on the one who uses it. It made him appreciate the dedication, the will that Shoto had to fight on, even if he was blatantly on the wrong side. The Ice would draw water out, the heat would do the same, resulting in a parched throat, and acute dehydration. To his relief, Eve brought over a glass of water. "Here."
Grateful, he accepted. "Thanks."
Taking a swig from the glass, Eve smiled a little, still not quite happy to see him in Shoto's body, for obvious reasons. "I see you got used to his quirk."
Nodding, he gave his explanation, on what he had to do in order to find out... and his growth in understanding of the former traitor. "Yeah. I had to search through his memories... I can understand his actions, even if I don't agree with them." He drank the rest of the paper cup in one gulp. "I'm done for today. What do you want to do?"
"Well... we can go back and chill after you file a report to Director Rabenherz."Smiling, he agreed. "Of course."
Following this, the week after consisted of just waiting for any signs of the League. They hadn't shown up for a while. So, in preparation Izuku carefully leaked the fact that a prison transfer of a known League associate was happening soon. The date and time. In order to make it believable, D Class were used as guards and given weak firearms. They were still forced to work due to the microchips implanted into them as a safeguard. With the purge of wrongfully made D Class, the ones that remained were hardened criminals. The four that would be acting as guards had a lengthy sentence to go with their name, and wouldn't be missed. When they were given guns and gear, they were surprised, but knew if they did anything their lives were forfeit. At least for now.
Loading Izuku in, they were told that they had to protect him at all costs as he was being shipped to another detainment facility. When asked why them, and they received unusual gear, being that of Japanese police, the answer was simple: They wanted no traces back to them. And D class are... expendable. If they complete this, then they may be able to get training and a promotion to E class, as combat personnel. A promotion from resource to human being is a mighty big promotion, in all honesty. So, they followed through with the orders, not realizing that they were just to sell the bait. One that would be consumed greedily, when the time came.
