Dr. Isa Rabenherz looked over the footage of the break in from yesterday. No matter what angle, the man's face was glitched out, and the methods of his attack were wild, unhinged, and terrifying. Yet, ultimately unsurprising. From what he divulged yesterday, 343 had informed her that he was a hit man for someone stronger, but refused to elaborate further. Said it was for her safety. Familiar with anti-memetic SCPs... there was little to investigate on that front. Due to having little progress, the site director stood up and left her office. There was something that could be done, however.
Eve was still crying. She knew he wasn't dead, but seeing him die was a bit too far for her. It was then that she heard a knock at the door. Getting herself presentable, she got off the bed and opened it... to see Isa. Lowering her head, she whispered. "Site Director."
Taking stock of the girl's disheveled appearance, tears streaking down her face even now... the blonde smiled. "Eve." Not one for emotions... she continued, awkwardly attempting to comfort her prospective daughter in law. "I know this is... difficult, but I would like you to come with me." She nodded, and followed her boss without a word. In order to attempt to ease her worries, Isa continued, "This... Isn't the first time Izuku's brushed with death... but this time was different. The weapons that the Anomaly used were capable of harming 343. It's likely that he will have to transfer to a new body."
That was the first reminder that Izuku wasn't really dead. Only... missing in action, if described in any way. "I understand. But will it still be him?"
Smiling confidently, the head scientist affirmed that it would still be him. "Yes. Due to 963-1, his personality will overwrite theirs... and he'll absorb their memories."
She nodded, relief on her features for the first time in a while. "When will it transfer?"
Unfortunately, that was the end of the good news. For now, at least. "Later. This is the first time 963-3 has died like this. O5 will want to speak with me about it."
Eve nodded as they arrived at the morgue. It was clean, and devoid of color. The chief medical examiner was compiling some notes as he analyzed the body. Izuku's body. Isa cleared her throat, and the man turned to her. The head mortician, here to see if there was anything missed by the initial report. "Ah, Site Director."
Straight to business, she asked: "What can you tell me?"
Taking a deep breath, he attempted to explain to the best of his understanding. He knew Isa was well informed on this, but still gave an easy explanation for the other girl in the room. "Well... he's not... dead in the traditional sense. His heartbeat is still going, albeit too faint for our monitors to pick up, and the body is healing itself. Somehow. It will be a while before it's ready enough for him to be awake."
A raised eyebrow accompanied the pressing question. This wasn't in the report, as his quirk implied that the more deadly the damage, the faster he'd recover. "Really? How long?"
"At least 2 months. He's like 343, although he only recovered in an hour. Whatever that attacker had was clearly anomalous. It's lucky it didn't hit anything really vital, and all he had was blood loss."
With a single nod, she was at least appreciative that he would be back. It was only a matter of time, instead of an uncertainty. Immortality has its limits, after all. "Good. Take him to medical then, since he's technically not dead. And remove the amulet, carefully. Be sure not to touch it."
Nodding, he stated, and began to get the equipment for the procedure. "Yes Ma'am."
Eve now had some hope in her eyes. It wasn't clear before, but now? Now that she knew from an expert that it was true... she'd believe it. While she didn't want him to be stuck in a body that isn't his own due to the pendant. It wouldn't be the same. Sure, the same sweet boy she fell in love with, but it would be jarring. The brunette just couldn't imagine anyone else other than the green themed boy as Izuku. But now that she knew he'd recover due to his quirk... it made her hopeful.
