Dabi was always skeptical of Shoto Todoroki. For more reasons than just the namesake. He was Endeavour's golden child... and yet... he was here, of all places. This could not be a coincidence. After all, he was never shipped to Tartarus. Oh sure, he was en route, but the fact that, for months, he was held in a black site, with little contact outside until the information conveniently arrived at Giran? The fact he dropped off the grid for a week, and then just reappears with guards that were not prepared in the slightest? It was bait. Clearly it was, but he couldn't prove it. The "Shoto Todoroki" was playing his cards well. He'd prove it, too.
However, as the boy rested after his exchange with Gigomanchia, Dabi found him on his phone. That wasn't unusual, but what was unusual was the content on it he was reviewing. They were files, with a unique symbol. It was clearly part of an intelligence agency. While the other villains here may have seen this as hacking into them, Dabi knew better. This little rat is working with them... why else would he have that expensive looking pendant with them?
He would make sure that this rat wouldn't be able to react as he raised his right hand up, behind him... Oh, he'd prove his intent, through action, or death.
Izuku only had a short second when he felt the air behind him heat up to get out of the way. Being in Shoto's body allowed him to more accurately detect the inherent temperature around him, and this time was no different. Blue flames surged forth, roaring and consuming where he used to be. Putting his phone away in a secure spot, he searched for the battle, only to realize that it was Dabi, and Dabi alone. Glaring at him, he demanded, in a very Shoto way, as to why he did that. "Why did you do that?!"
"Because you're nothing but a dirty rat."
His stomach fell a few feet, as he realized that he must've been discovered. He tried at first to defend himself using logic. "I haven't done anything..."
However, it was clear that he was sharper than Izuku realized, as he definitely called the 'rescue' out. "You had been given help by the government. How else would it be so easy to retrieve you? Why else would you be given that really expensive pendant?"
He thinks 963-1 is a bribe?! Granted, he's not exactly wrong, but not in the way he thinks... Narrowing his eyes, he asked, "And you think killing me will prove you right?"
Grinning, the patchwork man showed the simple logic that their group ran on. Something Izuku tended to forget at times. "We're villains. When you're dead, you can't defend yourself."
He's right...
Continuing, he stated, hand outstretched, ready for the fire to come. "Either way, I get to kill a part of Endeavour, his pride and joy, so that's a win-win for me."
Shit, this is also personal for him... but why? Growling out a challenge, Izuku demanded to know: "Why do you hate Endeavour so much? I get hating him... believe me, I know what he does to his family..." Shoto's memories are so messed up... shaking his head to push them back, he continued, "But taking it out on me is not the right call here."
"You wouldn't understand."
"Try me."
"You have two brothers. Both born to succeed him. Little Natsuo, and little Touya. One was weak with ice, the other with the hottest fire, but unable to contain it. Then, along comes little Shoto, who is blessed with the perfect quirk. While he trained you, he abandoned the rest..."
That was when Izuku's eyes widened in realization. This was personal because he was family, just as Shoto was, back before all this mess. "Touya..."
"Now you get it, little Shoto?" The man grinned maniacally.
