Chapter 23

"Brielle, can you hand me the document that I needed to sign today?"

I smiled and organized the folder in my table.

"Here"

"How's your back? Masakit ba?"

Umiling ako. My back hurts a lot since that accident happened. There are times when I force myself to drink pain relievers to ease the pain. 

"Your Kuya Creed is asking me if we can eat together later to treat you. A welcome home party I guess?" Kuya Leon chuckled.

It's been 3 years already since that accident happened and I flew to the US to continue my medication.

I almost died when I got shot in the back, I was in a coma for almost 5 months. It's been a roller coaster ride for me since that day. 

Liam and I haven't talked since then. I cut all my connections with them because that's what my dad wants. My punishment for putting everyone's life in danger. James and Clark were sent into the prison and until now they are still serving their time. They deserve it.

I graduated and received my degree even though I'm far away. 

I'm back in the Philippines now and I haven't met any of them, even Ansella. I know she's really mad at me right now and I understand her.

Sino bang hindi magagalit when someone you love suddenly cut ties with you. 

"Have you met Ansella?"

"Not yet. I'm planning to, later"

"I heard her business is really doing well" I heard she opened a convenience store and she has 5 branches already. I'm really so proud of her.

I'm working at our company, as Kuya Leon secretary. I'm working things out and I'm doing my best. This is the only chance that I got from my dad and I don't want to disappoint him. 

If you're gonna ask me if I missed Liam? I did but I'm holding back. I think he's living his life to the fullest now. I checked his social media account, he rarely posts anything but I saw that he's already in a relationship.

I'm happy for him, it hurts me but life goes on. Sometimes when I'm lonely, I can't help but to think what if it didn't happen? What are we now? Masaya kaya kami?

If I didn't get tangled up with his mess, what would I be?

"Kuya, I'm going."

"Okay. Don't forget our lakad later okay? Uwi ka kaagad"

I nod my head "Yes sir"

"Ansella"

Her eyes widened when she saw me, she didn't hesitate to run and gave me a warm hug.

"Omygosh."

I thought she's mad. "Is this real?"

"Bakit ngayon ka lang? I'm really worried about you!"

She cried, this bitch cried on my shoulder. It must have been really hard for her, to see me lifeless that time.

"I'm sorry for leaving you behind, Ansella."

"I was really scared when you called me and heard that you were kidnapped. Worst thing happened and you got shot. Seeing you unconscious with life support breaks my heart. When your dad decided to seek medical assistance in the US, we couldn't do anything because I know that's what's best for you, Brielle." 

She sighs in relief and holds my hand. "I'm really glad that you're okay"

Nilagay ko sa mesa lahat ng pasalubong ko para sa kanya. "This is all for you, Ansella. Thank you for patiently waiting for me"
