Chapter 34

"Brielle"

"Dad" Tumayo ako mula sa aking pagkaka upo. Nasa garden ako ni mommy, staring at the blue sky. Sobrang peaceful dito. 

"Is everything okay?"

I smiled. "Yes po"

"Do you hate me?" I was flustered, so I didn't answer. I just stared at him. 

"For being strict and pressuring you to have a high grades"

"I would be lying if I answered no, I hated you that time dad. I felt like I was trapped in a small room with no window. Do you know how hard I've tried to live the kind of life you wanted me to live?"

I stop for a moment and take a deep breath.

"I was always so scared but then I realized, maybe that's how you express your love." I added.

"When you were born, I was really happy because finally I have a daughter, but hearing them call you an illegitimate child hurt me so I want you to be perfect, no flaws para maiwasan mo ang pangungutya nila and I ended up choking you with my expectations. I'm sorry about that, Brielle. I just want the best for you anak. Leon, Creed, Hezekiah and you, are my precious gems."

This was the first time that I heard my dad saying this and I feel so overwhelmed.  

"I love you dad. Thank you for giving us the best life that we could ever ask for. I am what I am today because of you and I am forever grateful for that. Thank you for loving my mom too."

Dad pulled me closer and gave me a warm hug. "I love you so much, sweetheart"

"Anong drama ang nakikita ko?" Natatawang lumapit sa amin si mommy at inabutan kami ng tig isang tasa ng kape.

"Naglalambing lang po si daddy. Stress na daw po sa inyo e dahil puro tanim niyo na lang daw po inaasikaso niyo" pagbibiro ko. Pinanlakihan ako ng mga mata ni daddy. 

"He said that?" Naka ngising tanong ni mommy.

"I didn't say that" Depensa ni daddy.

"Seloso pala tong daddy mo" pang aasar pa ni mommy kay daddy.

"Ansella!" She automatically smiled when she heard me calling her name. Bigla na lang nag flash back lahat sa akin kung paano kami nagkakilala ni Ansella. She's my childhood friend.

"Brielle!" 

Ansella will always be part of my life, kahit ilang taon pa ang lumipas at hindi kami mag usap. She will always be my one and only bestfriend.

"Himala at nagyaya ka lumabas ngayon?" Taas kilay nitong tanong.

I was so freakin bored and decided to go out. Did I ever tell you? I resigned and will try to run my own business. Not related to the pharmaceutical business. A clothing line and I never tell anyone about it. 

It's a surprise. Kahit si Alexander ay walang alam tungkol dito. Only my family.

"What do you want to eat? It's my treat!" Parang nag twinkle bigla ang mga mata ni Ansella at mabilis itong kumapit sa braso ko.

"Let's have shawarma pizza!" 

"Are you sure?" 

She nodded her head.

"Okay let's go!"

"How's Alexander?"

Ansella never bothered me about Alexander and me when she heard that we were dating. She's patiently waiting for me to open up about it.
