We sat around the dinner table, it was the first night which meant, bolognese. It one of my favourite dishes Susanna does, my mouth was watering as she served it up, a bit of garlic bread on the plate as well.

"So guys, how's school going?" Susanna sits down as we all tuck into our food. "Good." Steven spits food everywhere as I grimace. "Jesus close you mouth moron!" I throw my garlic bread at him, he catches it shoving it all in mouth sticking his middle finger up at me.

"Schools good, apparently next year is the hardest though." Belly was one year younger which meant she had two years of school left, she didn't really know where she wanted to go in life, every two seconds she was changing her dream job, at the moment it was a vet.

I knew Belly would soon change her mind when she discovers that part of being a vet is seeing animals die.

"What about you El?" Susanna looks to me as I finish my mouth full. "She got kicked out." My mum looks down at her plate in disappointment. "What?" Susanna breaths tilting her head to me.

I look to Conrad for a split second, he looked confused, his head tilted a little as well, he looked down at his food, looking up once again but only for a split second.

"How can Ellie get kicked out of school, wasn't she like valid Victorian?" Jeremiah laughs, it should be funny me being kicked out the school, he probably thinks it was for some stupid prank or annoying a teacher, far from the truth.

"Um what about you boys, I heard you became quarterback Jeremiah, that's amazing." My mum moves along the conversation.

My cheeks flushed with embarrassment, the Fisher's probably wondering why I was kicked out. I wasn't ready to say anything about it yet, I hope my mum respected that and didn't tell Susanna anything.

"Yep I'm the quarterback baby!" He cheers flexing his arms up, everyone laughing and the tension the lifting. Steven cheers as they low five.

"What about you connie, how's football for you?" My mother asks between bites. "Conrad quit." The tension came back quicker than expected.

"You quit football? You love football." I say softly, Conrad turning to me. "What's it to you?" He spits shoving his mouth full of food.

"Just saying what everyone's thinking." I hold my hands up. "No she's right, connie you love football." My mum agreed with me as I could see he was getting annoyed. "Not anymore." He says bluntly, ending the conversation.

I wonder why he quit football? He was lying, Conrad loved football and not just because his dad like it either. He smiled all the time on the pitch, the brightest smile.

Though Jeremiah was good, Conrad was exceptional. He never lost a game and got along with his teammates really well, I knew I shouldn't question it too much so i decide to let it go.

I sat in my room reading after dinner, I had missed this room. It was bigger than the room I had at home. Me and Belly used to share but as we got older we got different rooms.

Sometimes I missed it, but times like these I enjoyed the quiet, especially living with what seems to be the most annoying people at Cousins.
