It was a few hours before the BBQ, everyone was getting ready, buzzing with exitment. I went down to the beach, I laid out a towel and pulled out a cigarette. I only smoked on rare occasions, when I felt like I was so stressed I couldn't breath.

I light it looking at the peaceful ocean, but nothing seemed to stop my mind from racing. Belly never understood why me and Steven didn't like going to dads or being near him.

I remember the day like it was yesterday. Dad had messaged me saying he was going to take me out for lunch, treat me to a shopping day, and I could even stay at his new house. I sat at the front door for an hour and a half. After messaging and calling him a thousand times, that night I got a message back.

'I'm so sorry hunny, I completely forgot, can I make it up to you?'

How does someone forget there own daughter. This wasn't the last time he did this to me or to Steven. Eventually we just stopped replying. He never forgot about Belly though and it showed. And the times he did forget about belly, she would just brush it off and forgive him straight away.

I wish it was that easy for me and Steven. "Hey, everyone's asking where you are." I hear Steven behind me. "I'm here." I blow smoke out as he sits next to me.

"How many bets he won't show up to our birthday." He scoffs. "He'll probably have a 'work emergency' or that bimbo will have planned something he just can't get out of." I add as Steven laughs at the stupidity of excuses.

"I can't wait till the day I move out and I never have to see his face again." Steven's says his smile fading. I sigh resting my head on his shoulder. "Let's go back, Belly's worried." Steven was right, today was about her, I needed to leave my feelings about my dad being here aside.

I stand up as Steven follows, I throw the cigarette on the floor as we head back to the house. The adults were all outside setting up the BBQ. "There you are El's. We wondered where you went." Susanna says while trying to sort the BBQ out. Adam was usually the one who did it but with him being in London and they're relationship nearly non existent it left her to do the stuff like this.

"Here let me help." My dad offers walking over. I took this time to quickly slip back into the house. "Come on Ellie we don't have much time to get ready!" Belly pops out of no where making me jump as she pulls me up the stairs.

We get into my room where Taylor is sat at my vanity. "You're room wasn't up to standards?" I turn to belly who gives me puppy dog eyes. "It's my birthday." Every year she uses this excuse.

"Fine." I roll my eyes as she claps her hand. We raid all our clothes searching for the best outfits. Taylor settles on a small black dress that was low cut. Taylor always rocked basic, this wasn't even a shot at her. You could put Taylor in a bin bag and she would pull it off.

Belly went for a cute summer dress, it was white with flowers all over it, it was perfect for a BBQ. I had decided on a blue king skirt that was skin tight pair with a matching bikini top.

We then did our hair and makeup. I went for a glowy natural look and curled my hair. Taylor wore heavy makeup and straightened her hair, belly also did but wore minimal makeup even when me and Taylor offered to do it for her. But I'm glad she didn't in the end, she was such a natural beauty.

Days like this make me feel more guilty then normal for what me and Conrad were doing, I just had to remind myself any way I did it would've ended up bad. How do you tell you sister you're in the love with their childhood crush and in their head, the love of their life?!

"Is Cam coming today?" I look to belly. "Of course why wouldn't he be?" She laughs nervously. Cam hasn't been around much recently since the party. I'm not sure how long these two were going to last but I wasn't going to say anything. I didn't want belly getting upset on her birthday.
