"Hey James." I approach the boy who was sat out on deck chairs. The others came back around an hour ago, belly immediately gravitated towards Lola, chatting about all things girl and her birthday tomorrow. It seemed belly and Taylor made up, and for once Taylor but her tongue when it came to Bel's and Lola talking.Steven came to talk to me telling me how sorry he was, not just to belly but all of us, saying it was the worst mistake of his life. After Deb training I'm going round to Shayla's to have a girls night, she needs it.
"Hey Ellie." He smiles back as I take a seat next to him. "So how long you guys staying for?" I ask but it came accross rude almost like I was waiting for them to go. "Sorry that sounded rude i-"
"It's okay, we're staying for two weeks, we leave the day after the Deb ball." I nod my head as he turns his head to the direction of the scenery that our garden over looked, the beach, the bright sun, the birds flying together in sync.
"I could never get bored of this view." He says in awe, it's always like that on the first of cousins, that feeling of peace, like you could spend you're whole life in the same spot.
"It's beautiful." I add on as i now find myself lord back on the sun deck staring at nothing but waves crashing against each other.
"Wanna go in?" He grins turning to me, like I would ever say no to swimming. "I'll race you?" Suddenly the question sounded babyish. Our house always did silly stuff like this but it's probably not what teenagers do, but to my surprise James jumps up sprinting to the beach.
"Hey that's no fair!" I laugh as I start running, I get close to catching up with him but he was so tall one of his steps took me two.
We make it to the sea as we crash into the cold water, both laughing. "You're really fast." I say out of breath as we head further into the sea. "I've been doing track since I was in elementary school." He shrugs, not even one note of being out of breath.
"I used to do it but I lost interest, both me and belly did it." Me and Belly used to hate track, but it was one of the only extra cuticular activities at our school. It was either football, cheerleading or track. After about a year we finally convinced our parents to let us quit.
"You two don't strike me as the track type."
"How so?" I furrow my eyebrows reaching the part of the sea where my feet no longer touch the floor."You guys look like cheerleaders, very bubbly, smiley. I don't know if that's completely stereotypical." To be stereotypical would to say cheerleaders are all blonde, blue eyes and five foot tall. I like that he saw personality.
"It's not, that was sweet." I smile to James as we both float closely to each other just enjoying the water. That's when j hear someone clear there throat, we turn our heads as Conrad stands on the beach, great.
"Susanna wants you guys for dinner." He mumbles barely enough for us to hear him, before I can reply he shooting back up to the house. "Great I'm so hungry!" James says swimming back to shore as I follow closely behind.
We get to the beach as we start walking back up slowly. "We'll Susanna almost always does her pomegranate and pesto salad when we have guests, it's delicious!" The thought of it makes my stomach gargle as I become embarrassed, could the ground swallow me sooner?
"So uh Susanna and my mum keep bringing up this Deb ball? Saying how it would be an idea to be you're escort?" Just as I thought this walk couldn't get any worse. "Oh god! Honestly I love her but she spends half her day finding ways to embarrass me." I laugh nervously.
