I didn't like shopping, hours spent wandering around shops, having to try on every item of clothing in case it didn't fit, trying to find the best prices. It just seemed pointless. And I despised it today, I was still hungover as Susanna and my mother dragged me and Belly around the shops.
"I think Susanna is the only one enjoying this." Belly whispers to me as I nod my head in agreement. Susanna basically shopped for me and Belly, telling us what was the best for Deb practice and training.
My mother at first was sceptical, she didn't want to spend too much money but Susanna being Susanna said she had it covered since it was her idea. The last thing on our list was our Deb dresses.
It's what we would be wearing that night, the big night. Susanna made us try on a million dresses, Belly even collapsed to the floor out of boredom at one point.
Belly had finally found a dress, it was wasn't really her style and my mum even referred to her looking like the tooth fairy, but Susanna loved it and that's all Belly cared about.
Finally I look at myself in the mirror and found the one. It was a dress that had Lacey flowers my arms, and white beads on the arms and going around the hem of the waist. It was beautiful.
"Oh wow." I step out the changing room as Susanna cups her hands over her mouth in awe. I giggle quietly turning in my dress as I felt like a princess. "I have to admit, you look gorgeous El." My mother smiles as Belly nods a big grin also on her face.
I look back to Susanna who sniffled as tears fell down her cheek. "Susanna don't cry." I tilt my head walking over, side hugging her as Belly hugs her from the other. "You both are so beautiful." Her eyes glistening with tears as she looks to us both.
"Ugh look at me, I've probably smudged my makeup." she rolls her eyes wiping her tears as me and belly let go and she grabs her compact mirror checking her face, she hadn't smudged her makeup and even if she had, Susanna was pretty enough to pull it off.
"Right tears are done, let's get some lunch!" She claps her hands together as we all head out the store, a million and one bags in our hands as we put them in the car before heading back into town and going to the country club.
"So girls, tell me, who are you choosing to be your date to the ball." Susanna asks as we look through the menus. "Beck they've just started, I'm sure they're not thinking of dates." My mother giggles.
"I think I've got a boy in mind, I just need to spend a bit more time with him before I choose." Belly smiles tucking her hair behind her ears, she always did that when she blushed.
"Spill!" Susanna taps her arm.
"There's nothing to spill, his names Cam Cameron, he's really nice and wants to be a marine biologist." She shrugs taking a sip of her mock-tail. "Oh we know Cam, his mother works at the club remember her Laur, she always gave us free chips." Laurel smiles nodding her head."What about you El?" They're heads turn to me quickly. "Yeah I haven't decided." I shake my head looking to the menu, wishing it to swallow me whole. Truth is, I have no idea who would take me. Conrad was right, there's not many boys to choose from.
"I always thought Connie would look good on your arm."
"Ew no way gross." Belly immediately says, she was jealous, she definitely still liked Conrad. "We'll I've always said you two are destined for my boys, even if it's just being your date to the Deb ball."
