As we turn the road to the the street where the welcome sign sits, that over looks the beach and the sun. There sat Belly on the bench next to it. The others weren't here yet, I was glad. It meant me and Conrad could talk to her before Taylor and Steven. We pull up getting out the car in unison, Belly not even looking away from the sea. Me and Conrad sit on either side of her, both not knowing what to say. I look to Belly, she looked surprisingly awake for being here all night.
"Everyone's been looking for you." I mention as she scrunches her nose a bit, but still kept silent. "I didn't want to worry anyone, I just needed to be alone." Her voice cracks quietly.
"Do you want to talk about it?" I ask as she immediately shakes her head looking to floor. We stay in silence for a bit, trying to find the right words but I noticed Belly just wanted silence, and even if I couldn't get her to talk about it, I hoped me and Conrad being next to her made her feel just that bit better.
I hear a car pull up behind us and I turn to see Jeremiah's car but only him in it. He gets out the car a look of relief on his face as he sees Belly. He runs over to us standing in front of us all.
"Belly what the hell?!" He says slightly out of breath. "Jere-"
"No I was worried sick, I've called you what feels like a hundred times. I thought something bad had happened!" Though he was shouting, you could tell it was all because he cared about her. I think Belly realised it too.
"I'm sorry Jere." Jeremiah looks to me and Conrad before I move up letting him sit next to Belly. "Bell's we're all here for you, we're you're family. Tell us what your feeling." I ask her as she looks to all of us.
"I feel like I just saw my best friend steal one of the most important people in my life away from me." She looks back at the sea, tears pricking at her eyes.
"I feel that when Taylor is in my life, there is nothing that is mine. Cousins was usually different, but not this year. Everything's changed." She wipes the tears that roll slowly down her face.
"Listen I'm not sticking up for Taylor in slightest, I actually hate her but, don't you think you need to here her side. Taylor is still you're best friend and has been for years. I know she can be a bitch but maybe there's a reason for all this." I try reason with Belly.
I did not like Taylor and never will. But apart from me who was her sister, tyalor was her only friend back home. They needed each other, whether they liked it or not.
"Steven will always be your brother Bell's, no one could take him away from you." Jeremiah adds. "I think you need to talk to both of them." I grab her hand squeezing it tightly as she sniffles, letting out a the last tears before wiping her face.
"Come on, we've got Deb training tonight. You love Deb training." I try cheer her up, she cracks a smile brushing the hair from her face.
"Maybe I'll even make an appearance." Jeremiah gets up as he starts dancing crazily making us all laugh, but especially Belly. Which is why he did it, making her smile was his specialty.
I hear a car pull up and we all turn our heads to Taylor and Steven in a car parking up. "Oh great they're together." Belly says through gritted teeth.
"You've got this, I'll see you at home." I kiss her forehead as she gives me a small smile. Me and the boys get up as we walk over to Taylor and Steven, they're heads hanging low as they stop in front of us.
"Come on guys." I give them both a glare as I walk away from them. I was still annoyed at them, until they've apologised to belly I won't even mutter a word to them.
The boys follow me loosely behind as Jere gets back in his car and I get into Conrad's. Just as he starts the car I look over to Jere. His head on the steering wheel. "Jere's not okay." I look to Conrad who starts driving off.
"He's just sulking he'll get over it." He shrugs. "I don't think so this time. Are you sure he doesn't know about Susanna?" I question.
"No, he would've told me if he did. Jere will talk when he needs too." That's where Conrad's wrong. Jeremiah has changed this summer. Apart from some subtly hints he's been able to hide his emotions pretty well compared to when he was younger.
We head back to the house, the air filled with the smell of pancakes from this morning. "I'm going for a swim." I tell Conrad as he nods his head stopping at the stairs as I stand in front of him.
I look into his eyes, they were bright and full, for the first time this summer i truly believe Conrad was happy. He leans down but I lean back putting my hand over his mouth.
"What are you doing? What happened to no one knowing?" I raise my eyebrows as he rolls his eyes. "It's a stupid rule." He says softly grabbing me by my waist pulling me in tightly.
"You think everything stupid." I wrap my arms around his neck as he starts smiling knowing he's winning. "Not everything is." Before I knew are lips were back together. It was quick and as soon as we kissed I pulled away, I knew if I didn't then and there I wouldn't stop.
"I'm going swimming." I walk away from him but not looking away from each other as we do. "Yeah you already said that." He grins, i roll my eyes playfully before turning away into the kitchen.
"Ell!" I jump as a happy Susanna steps in front of me. "Jesus Susanna." I giggle as she grabs my hand rushing me to the steps out onto the back garden. They're stood my mother talking to a man and woman I didn't know.
While a girl and boys with similar hair and facial features stand looking at the garden. "What am I supposed to be looking at?" I furrow my eyebrows at the women stood next to me gleaming.
"That they're is James. He's going to your deb escort!"
