Boys Don't Cry

Set after Skybound

It's a stormy night in Ninjago. Rain poured down, thunders roared and lightnings struck. And this time, most people would already be sound asleep. But not for Nya. Well she's about to sleep when she heard sounds outside. Some sort of sniffles and winces. 

Curious, she grabbed her leather jacket and went outside. The hallways never seemed so dark and depressing. She scanned every room with care and making sure she made the littlest amount of sound possible. The sounds are getting louder now. She stopped and pressed her ear closer to the room nearby. To her fear, the sounds originated from this exact room. Jay and Cole's room.

Nya knocked the door. Not too loud for it might startle the ones inside and wake up the ones outside. "Jay, Cole, you guys in there?" She called out.

The door then opened. Revealing a messy haired boy with jacket's on. "Hi Nya."

"Wow Jay. Your hair...I never see them so messy. Anyway may I come in? I heard some sounds from your room." 

"Uh...what sounds?" Jay stammered.

"Some sniffling." Nya replied. "So, may I come in?"

"S-sure I guess." Jay moved sideways to let Nya in.

"Have any ideas about the sound?" Nya asked, sitting down on Jay's bed.

"Nope. Not a clue." Jay sat down beside Nya. "Why are you still up?"

"I was about to sleep when I heard those noises." 

"Did they bother you much?"

"Kind of. Also, are you okay? You seem a little tense." Nya touched Jay's upper arm.

"OUCH!" Jay winced.

"OMG! I'm so sorry! Did I do something wrong?" Nya pulled her hand immediately.

"I-it's fine, really." Jay rubbed his arm while trying his best not to show his pain.

"A-are you sure?"

"Yeah. It's nothing to fret about, really."

"Open your jacket." 

"What? Why?"

"Just open it."

Jay looked away from Nya and shrug off his jacket, revealing that he's wearing a dark blue tank top underneath. But the most shocking thing is that bruises are dotted all over his arms. They're maroon and had some dried blood on it. Some even had fresh ones! Nya clasped her mouth at the sight of Jay's injuries.

"Jay you- what happened?" Nya take his arm and turn it over and over, discovering new wounds.

"I-it's fine. Just some battle marks." Jay shrugged. 

"From where?"

"The alternate timeline I guess." 

"But how? The timeline's undone and there's no possible way you could've get all these overnight."

"Imagine trusting Nadakhan to grant your wish without any consequences. I suppose he left those to remind me of the bitter memories playing Scrap n Tap with him. You know how much Nadakhan just love to see me suffer."

"Scrap n Tap?"

"Yeah. It's just some stupid game they play where two people fight each other. And the one who wins can get a break. But the one loses, has to play another round."

"Let me guess, you lost?"

Jay nodded. "A lot. But don't worry about these. I was just about to cover them up when you came in."

"To be honest, I'm not mad about you not covering up these injuries properly. But why you didn't tell me. Do you not trust me?"

"Of course I trust you Nya it's just-" Jay stopped and scratched his head. "Complicated." 

Nya can only respond with a raised eyebrow. "Complicated how?"

Jay sighed. He's been keeping this for so long. Maybe it's about time he revealed it. "I was afraid. I was afraid of losing you again. I thought if I told you about these stuff you would think I'm weak and leave me again. Besides, boys are not supposed to cry."

"Excuse you? Who said that? Both boys and girls have the rights to loosen up sometimes. Both have the rights to shed a tear or two. Even tiger can become a pussy sometimes. You don't have to act tough or cool around me. Because like I said on our first date, I like you best when you're you." With that, she pecked a kiss on Jay's lips. "No more hidden feelings from now on okay?"

"Alright Nya. And I'm so so sorry for keeping these from you. I should've trusted you more."

"It's okay Jay. Everyone deserves a second chance. And always remember this wherever you go. Boys are allowed to cry."

Finally finished it! This oneshot is actually inspired by one of my friend's drawing about how boys don't cry (non Jaya). So I just thought why not relate it with Jaya? This goes out to all boys out there with this insecurity. Just remember guys, even tigers can be a pussy cat too sometimes. Don't let those stupid rules stop you from destress-ing. If you can, you might want to talk to someone or unwind. It helps. Anyway don't forget to keep checking because I'll try update every day. Bye Y'all!!!
