Dinner and Roses

This is a random oneshot from a random incident. So like my pen fell down and my friend's like: "Hey what if that pen's a rose from a guy?". And...here we are.

"Do you really have to go now?" Jay asks for the umpteenth time. Today's their anniversary, the day they've been waiting for a long time. However, Nya's tied up with an emergency mission last minute.

"I'm sorry Jay but yes. Don't worry I'll try my best to come back before sundown. Love you Sparky." Nya pecked Jay's cheek before pulling down her hood. "See you later." She waved.

"Bye." Jay mumbled unenthusiastically before flopping down on the sofa, face flat.

"You okay Jay?" Cole ruffled Jay's already messy hair.

"No." Jay mumbled in a monotone voice.

"Want to play chess? I'm bored too." Cole offered.

"Nah."

"Prime Empire?"

"Nope."

"Fist To Face?"

"Nu-uh"

"Lava Zombies?"

"Not really."

"Duel?!"

"Not feeling it."

"Then what do YOU want to do?" Cole flopped down on the armchair beside him. Clearly tired from suggesting all those suggestions.

"I dunno. How long is it until sundown?"

"Uh...9 hours?" Cole checked his wristwatch.

"GAHH!" Jay flipped backwards, laying on his back. "Today's supposed to be me and Nya's anniversary Cole. But that stupid emergency mission ruin it all!"

"Why don't you prepare something to do with her when she's finished." Cole suggested. "Like I don't know, a fancy date or something?"

"That's a great idea. Oh wait I just remember, I can't cook and Zane's not here. WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO?! And before you say it, no! I'm not going to ask YOU for help. I don't want her mouth glued shut the whole day because of your duck chowder of whatever it's called. I need something special. Something that'll sweep her off her feet."

"But what if she doesn't want something special? What if she wants something simple. I mean it's the thought that counts."

"As if! You know me, I'll never settle for anything less if it's for her. Now if you'll excuse me, I have some cooking videos to watch."

Cole can just sigh as he watch his teammate walked off into the distance. Sure what he's planning's good but why can't he see that he himself is enough. It's the thought that counts right? Even Nya said it herself before. She likes him the way he is. But of course we all know how stubborn Jay is when it came to treating a girl or Nya in this case.

So for the next 9 hours Jay did the following things: watching a whole playlist on how to cook some fancy dinner foods for about 4 hours, tried to cook a meal and fail (repeat process 5 times) but eventually succeed (takes 4 hours 30 minutes), freshen off, get dressed, prepare table for 30 minutes. Just in time as Nya's arrival.

"Whoa, what's all this?" Nya pointed at the set table.

"Come and sit milady." Jay pulled a chair backwards for her to sit, a rose in his mouth.

Nya chuckled and sat down. She took the flower off his mouth and gave him a sweet kiss which - of course - left him totally breathless. "You know you shouldn't do all this."

"But it's our anniversary and I want you to feel special so eat." Jay shoved a huge roasted chicken to her. "No one shall eat before the queen has ate."

"Drop the fancy stuff Jay. I know this isn't you. Come on, where's the always wore casual clothes and chill at the sofa Jay? Because this is not my Jay."

"Alright fine, you know me too well." Jay took off his tux. "It's hot under this super thick jacket. Brickflix (Ninjago's version of Netflix) and chill?" He offered.

"Sure. Don't forget to bring that chicken. I really want to try your cooking." Nya licks her lips.

"How do you know it's my cooking?" Jay carried the platter into the table between the tv and sofa.

"I mean if it's Cole's, I know you wouldn't even dare put it on that table." Nya chuckled.

"Oh wow I have a smart girlfriend." Jay praised. "Happy Anniversary Nya."

"Happy Anniversary Jay."
