Promise

Set at the end of Skybound (when Nya's shot by the tiger widow venom). Also it's in Jay's P.O.V. So it's basically just The Way Back retold in Jay's perspective.

"I promise I'm gonna protect you and I'm a man of my word!"

Lies. Everything I said earlier is all a stupid lie. My promise is broken and there's no way to fix it. Well I mean I could've just wished Nya well but what about Nadakhan and his freaking infinite wishes? Oh what a dilemma. I'm the protector of Ninjago I have to protect it. But I also have to keep a promise that I made earlier. Oh what should I choose?

"You have to make your last wish." Nya's weak voice disturbed my thoughts. "You're the only one who can stop him.

Is she serious? Is she sacrificing herself just for the goods of Ninjago? Is she really expecting me to finish off Nadakahan and let her die? No way, I'm not that insane. "No, not if that means losing you."

"I never wanted to be part of your boys club anyway." She strokes my cheek.

Boys club?! Since when is our ninja team a boys club?! I mean sure it's primarily made up of boys but aren't Misako and Pixal counted? "No, Nya. Don't say that."

"Guess it's true. The greatest love stories do always end in tragedy." Nya smiled before her body goes limp and her eyes are shut tight.

At that moment all I can do is stare at her and shed some tears. I never knew the time will come by so fast. Why must the time be now? I haven't even say goodbye nor tell her how much I love her.

I thought we're supposed to end up with each other. Not one dies in another arms. Now I'm wondering. If our future reflections are telling the truth, then did I keep my promise and wish her well of help Ninjago and defeat Nadakhan. Oh must I pick one of those?! But wait, what if I don't have to lose everything. What if I can wish both at the same time. It'll take some precise choice of words, yes. Words from the heart.

"I wish, you had taken my hand. And no one ever found that teapot in the first place."

I have fulfilled my promise and my duty.
