The Breaking Point

Set after Crystallised (WARNING: Includes Seabound spoilers)

Nya shifted sides in pain. "Jay, c-can you give me that bottle of painkillers? I-I think I need some more. It's hurting again." Nya plea.

The ninjas has just returned from another one of their dangerous missions. And lately there's hardly any missions that the ninjas had without at least one of them being injured. They used the first aid kit box so much that it runs out in a matter of days. This time, the one's injured is Nya. The rest are also injured of course, just not bad as she is.

Jay, who was staring at his feet the whole time in silence, glanced at the glass bottle filled with pills. But instead of taking it, he just stared at it for a while before staring at his feet again.

"Jay, y-you there?" Nya waved her hand in front of his face.

Jay only shakes his head. His face is dark and depressed and his eyes is vacant. Nya put her hand on his'.

"You okay? What's wrong?" Nya asked, concerned.

Jay shakes Nya's hand away. "I-I'm fine. Just tired."

"Tired of what?"

"Tired of this. All of this."

"What do you mean?"

"I'm sick of this. I-I can't bear to see you weak and hurting like this. I-It's horrible. It makes me recall all those times when you- when you-" Jay gulped. "...Died."

Nya can only look at him sadly. She sacrificed herself a lot back then. From letting herself getting shot by the tiger widow venom until her latest sacrifice. Her merging with the sea. She knew quite well about Jay's trauma. He made this clearly many times in their life.

"I hate this too." Nya muttered. "But what else can we do? We're the protectors of Ninjago. There's no way we won't deal with dangers now and then. I guess we just have to be patient and endure."

"And that's what I'm tired of." Jay stood up. "I'm tired of enduring! I'm tired of seeing you slowly crumble into deaths! I-I'm sick of it! How long can you endure Nya?! How long?! Because I'm done! I'm tired of being in this up and down relationship. I'm tired of it all." Jay force back his tears and left the room.

"Jay, wait!" Nya jumped out from her bed and followed Jay outside.

She tried to grab hold of his hand when she felt a searing pain across her heart. She fell down to ground immediately and clutch her chest tight to try and stop the pain. Breathing started to get difficult for her and her hand trembled furiously.

"J-Jay," Nya gasped for air. "H-help...me. I-It hurts...a lot."

 Jay turn back and faced the weak girl. His heart ached as he watched her slowly crumbling. His usual self would've carried her, bridal style, to her room and called the hospital. But this time, he didn't even move an inch. Just wince and clench his fist at the horrible sight.

"P-please?" Nya look up at Jay.

Jay walked towards her and stood on one knee. He put his finger on her chin and raised her head up. "I'm sorry Nya. As much as it pains me to do this, I have to. I have to do this. It's for the best."

"What do you mean?!" Nya trembled.

"For long I have suffered and crumbled from seeing you die. For long I have suffered the nightmares and anxiety it caused. Finally, I found a way to stop this suffering. The only way to stop us from suffering is to let you die."

"Wh-what?!"

"I know it's unbelievable but even though it's crazy, I'm confident it'll work. This'll be the last time I'll see you suffer and the last time you will suffer. Isn't that brilliant?"

 Nya can't believe what she just heard. Jay's out of his mind. Usually he's against these stuff but now he's supporting it?! Nya opened her mouth to say something but no word come out. Why can't she say anything?! She had to bring him back to his senses. No matter how hard she wanted to deny it, deep down she felt that what he said is somehow correct. Another jab struck her heart again.

"Y-you can't do this. Th-this isn't you!" Nya plea, her eyes brimming with tears.

"I'm sorry Nya. Like I said I didn't want to do this either but it's the only way." Jay pecked Nya's forehead and stood up again. "Just remember Nya, I do this because I love you. Because I can't bear to see you suffer. So, I suppose this is the end?"

Nya shakes her head vigorously. The pain in her heart increasing.

"I love you water lily." Jay looked back at Nya and smiled.

Nya watch Jay walk away as her eyes began to flicker. Oh how she wished for him to change his mind and help her. But it seems hopeless now. The Jay she knew all this time is long gone. The cheerful joker who always lighten up her days and always there for her, is gone. Jay's cheerful self is now replaced by his crazy self.

No matter how angry Nya is about him ignoring her like this, she can't help it but feel empathy towards him. He handled many tough things in his life. Abandoned at a young age, turning into a snake, getting tangled in a love triangle, beaten to near death by a gang of sky pirates, suffocated because a bunch of water is stuck in his lungs and witnessed the death of his girlfriend 3 times. Well counting now that'll be 4 times.

Jay has gone through so much in his life. And he never actually talk about it fully with someone else. He cooped it all in one place. He masked his pain and suffering with his jokes and laughs. But of course after all these years he's bound to break. And now's the breaking point. The time when he can't held in the feelings anymore. That's why he made this stupid decision.

"The greatest love stories, do always end in tragedy." Jay muttered.
