Set after Zane's funeral in Rebooted.  Inspired by the song Something Just Like This by The Chainsmokers and Coldplay. Warning: not so happy ending. Sorry.

Jay held back the swelling tears in his eyes and stuffed the last of his clothes in a blue duffel bag. After the announcement of Nya's Perfect Match result, Jay had been considering about quitting. But he knew that with the nindroids on the loose and Overlord back, he needs to wait. And then Zane's death came much more faster than he could imagine. There's no more waiting now. He's lost one of his mates, his best friend and his girlfriend. He can't bare losing anymore.

He swings the duffel bag on his shoulder and pocketed the quitting letter. He's not feeling like talking to Wu about his resign. He walked out of his office and while stopping in front of the headmaster's office, he spotted the last person he wanted to see right now, Nya.

"Hi Jay. What are you doing?" She asked, walking over to my direction.

"Hi Nya." He replied with his most monotone voice. "Aren't you supposed to be doing something right now? Like I don't know hanging out with Cole."

Nya sighed. It's going to be hard gaining his trust again. "You know I don't follow that stupid love machine right?"

Jay scoffed at her answer. "Yeah, as much as I believed that ninjas never quit. Here's my resignation letter by the way. Can you give it to Wu if you see him?" Jay casually handed her the letter. "Bye." He waved and ignored her open mouthed expression.

"Jay! Wait!" She called out. "Y-you can't do this!"

"If you can leave me, why can't I?" Jay's voice rang out from the distance.

She really messed up this time. She really do. She don't know how to tell him that she's confused with whom to choose at the moment. She doesn't know which is more accurate. Technology or her heart? How to explain to him that her gestures to Cole are merely friendly gestures? Whatever happens she mustn't let him pass the school gates. Never. She rushed in front of Jay.

"I was confused Jay and still am. I just don't know which one to follow. Technology or my heart? It's a confusing choice."

Jay sighed and rest his duffel bag down. "You don't have to lie Nya, just say it. You never liked me and all of those gestures you did to me were a mere act. I know it Nya.You don't have to hide it. I know you don't like me and never did. I'm too weak and poor to be a good boyfriend to you. But Cole? I think he's just perfect. He's strong and not so poor as I am. I get it why you liked him more. So please. No. More. Excuses. You've made your decision and I made mine. So please let me do me and I'll let you do you."

Nya's speechless by Jay's speech. From his harsh tone and clenched fists, she knew it hurt him a lot to say them. It hurt her too. She regretted all those times she could've helped him with his traumas and mental health problems but she didn't. He let out all of his emotions so why can't she? Perhaps it can change his mind. Nya take a deep breath and started to sing.

Where do you wanna go?

How much you wanna risk?

I'm not looking for somebody with some super human gifts

Some superhero

Some fairytale bliss

Just something I can turn to

Somebody I can kiss

I want something just like this

Nya walked closer to Jay who's avoiding eye contact. She grabbed both of his hands. Tears welling up in her eyes. "Please stay. I need you. I-I love you. You're all I ever wanted. Please stay." Nya sobbed.

Jay stood there in silence as Nya's words seeped through his soul. She never said those before. What if she really does love him? No, he can't let himself fall into the same trap again. He pulled his hand away from Nya's and stroked Nya's hair. A tear slides down her face.

"I'm sorry Nya. I wanted to stay I really do. But I just can't take it anymore. My trust is just not so perfect anymore. I'm sorry Nya. You'll find a better man in Cole." Jay kissed Nya's forehead and grabbed his duffel bag. "See you later Nya."

Nya can only watch open mouthed as Jay left. There's nothing she can do about it. He made his decision. And she knew that when Jay made up his mind about something, it'll be hard to convince him to not do it. She can only drop down and regret her actions. Oh how she wish she can turn everything back and that one day their relationship will be well again.

~The End~
