"I'm gonna step into my tent to wash this off," he began to walk towards the shelter, "holler if you need anything."
"Alright," you called back.
You decided that after this day of adventure, it was finally time for some well-deserved rest.
-
The sun shone on the horizon, the light flooding the sky. The strong smell of meat lingered in the air. Techno had found something else to cook.
Not surprising- he spent most of his time in the wild, after all. Maybe that's how he learned to cook so well.
Wait- good cooking has a lot to do with spices... did he just carry spices on every adventure with him? That must take up an unnecessary amount of space in his bags, right? Well, bag. Singular. It's not like he had another pair of clothes to change into... so it was just wrapping cloth, spices, weapons, and water? Strange.
Maybe he could use the spices as a diversion in some way.
Speaking of not changing clothes, how in the world could he do it? You had only been out for one day but you already felt like you were covered in a layer of filth. It was strange. But, you were raised very differently, so maybe that was it. Your skin had to be 10x more sensitive than his. Yes, that makes sense.
Maybe it's because he's a pig.
You decided that it was enough thinking about that for now and set your thoughts aside, letting yourself focus on the smell of breakfast.
"Cooking for me again?" You cracked a playful smile, "You'd be an excellent wife."
"Ha-ha," He said sarcastically, "Don't get used to it. It's only until I teach you how."
"What?"
"You can't go through life without knowing how to cook unless you're a noble, and well... you're not a noble anymore. So you need to learn."
"Right. I forgot about that."
"You're so used to the pampered life, it's sickening."
Techno handed you a chicken leg.
"And where'd you find this?" You asked.
"Just wandering around. There are more wild chickens out there than you think there are."
"Hm."
"Eat. We need to get moving."
It wasn't very hot anymore. He must have cooked it a while ago. You wasted no time tearing into it, and once again it was the best chicken you've ever had.
"I swear, did they not feed you in that palace of yours?" Techno asked with a chuckle.
"They didn't exactly feed me savory foods like this. Nothing that tastes as good as you make. Just stuff to be," You paused, shuddering, "healthy."
"Chicken's very good for you, but they didn't give you any because they wanted to give you healthy food?"
"You misunderstood me. They didn't season anything because they wanted to give me 'healthy' food."
"But spices don't take away the nutritional values?"
"That's what I said!"
"Wow. Royalty is dumber than I thought. Er.. no offense."
"None taken. You're right. I learned most of the important things that I know on my own."
"Really?"
"All they teach you to do is please the people while they run the show backstage. You're supposed to be, like, their puppet or something."
