The next morning, Danny gently woke Autumn up and took her out for donuts and iced coffee. He then took her to the park so they could walk the trail by the river. He wanted to make sure she moved around a bit after being down for awhile. It was good for her mental and physical health. She seemed to be healing up pretty well and doing much better. Her fear of Ghost Face didn't seem like an issue anymore, and that was all because he showed her that he meant her no harm. Of course, he figured being intimate with her had something to do with it. Danny often wondered how it was affecting her, having to keep it secret. That was the part he hated about it, he knew it had to have been eating her alive. Danny didn't know if he wanted to stop though, he had too much fun fucking her as Ghost Face.
"What time you want to go over to Kim's?" Danny asked following Autumn into the house.
"Around five, please," she told him.
That soon? Maybe now was a good time to confess that he was Ghost Face and lock her up. "Sure, bunny, whenever you want to go."
"I w-wish you could come with me," Autumn said sitting down on the couch. "I... know that probably sounds a b-bit obsessive, I just haven't been away from you since Skylar attacked me..."
Danny pleaded with whoever was up there in the sky to persuade her to stay home. "That's not being obsessive, Auty. You just associate me with comfort and safety because I've been with you through your trauma," he told her. "But if you think you might have some trouble being away from me you're more than welcome to stay home."
Autumn studied his face, looking for an answer to what she should do without having to ask. She wanted to go to Kim's, but she felt almost panicked every time she thought about being away from Jed. "Well... do you want me to stay here?"
Absolutely. "Auty," Danny started as he took a seat next to her. "Of course I want you to stay here, but I also want you to do whatever you want." He really was sincere about that, no matter how badly he wanted to keep her all to himself. "I think it will be good for your emotional health if you spent some time with Kim," he said with a hint of reluctance. Danny knew how badly she wanted friends and for them to want to hang out with her; he couldn't isolate her from them, not without feeling guilty.
Autumn smiled softly at him, feeling a sense of relief knowing he was okay with her going. "Okay, I-I think it will be g-good for me too."
Danny smiled back at her then put his arm around her. "It will be okay, bunny, and I'm sure you'll have a good time," he said. "But can we cuddle until about 4?"
"Definitely."
Danny was about to smother her with kisses when his phone began to ring. He shoved his hand down in his pocket and pulled out his phone. It was Harold. Wasn't he away for the weekend? "Hello?"
"Jed, turn on the local news now!" Harold directed in a tone that almost sounded excited but also frightened.
Danny grabbed the remote and turned on the television and switched it to the local news. There was a reporter standing in front of yellow crime scene tape reporting on a gruesome crime that had taken place the night before. Apparently a whole household was slain and put on display out in their front yard like Halloween decorations. Even the dog... Danny heard a small gasp to the right of him as Autumn listened to the gruesome details. He quickly shut it off. This wasn't his work, so he wasn't interested.
"You think that Ghost Face did that?" Danny questioned with a bit of hostility.
"Hell yeah! The news is reporting that the police suspect that it's him, Jed!"
"No... No, it's not like him to murder a whole family of five," Danny replied.
Autumn sure hoped so, she'd be so upset at him and herself for willingly having sex with someone who murdered a family. The youngest victim was only seven...
