After awhile, Autumn began feeling the effects of the pain pills she had taken. She felt calm, relaxed, and carefree as Danny pet on her. They hadn't spoken a word since their conversation about his name; they laid their in silence. Autumn was watching the movie, but not really paying attention. Danny's attention was on her, listening to her breathe and stroking her face, rubbing her arm, and kissing her shoulder. They had both been so upset earlier, but now everything was nearly perfect. If only they were at home on the couch instead of a cold, vacant house. What he wanted more than anything was to be intimate with her, but was she even in the mood? Then, without warning, Autumn turned over to face him. She sleepily pecked him on the lips before nestling into his chest. Had she seen his face? Or was she too sleepy to even notice? Danny decided to just let it be. He kissed the top of her head and gave her a gentle squeeze.
"Danny...?" Autumn murmured sleepily.
"Yes, sweets?" Danny replied softly.
She moved slightly in his arms. "Can... Can I-I j-just stay with you?"
"As much as I'd like that – I think it's best that you go back home with Jed," he told her.
"B-But... he doesn't w-want me..."
"Yes he does, guy's been a total wreck ever since he read your text message..." Danny admitted. It was true until he nabbed her from Kim's. He was still feeling awful about the ordeal though.
"He has?" Autumn questioned. "H-How do you know?"
Danny gingerly turned onto to his back, taking care not to disturb the sleepy girl too much. "I stopped by his place to see if he had brought that girl home. I was going to cut his heart out, but I seen him faced down on the floor sobbing and beating the floor like a toddler, wailing, NOOO I CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT MY BUNNY!" He had to stifle a laugh.
Autumn couldn't help but to giggle as she imagined someone like Jed having a fit on the floor.
"What? You're laughing at a heartbroken man?" Danny snickered. "Typical woman... making fun of a man showing emotion..."
"N-Nooo, I-I'm not making fun," she replied. "I-I just don't th-think you're being serious..."
"I'm not. He definitely wasn't that dramatic, but he was upset..." Danny moved his hand slowly down her back. "But... would you really think it was funny if he was sobbing on the floor?" He stopped just before he got to her bottom.
"No... I-If I seen him l-l-like that – I'd lay down on the floor next to him an-and comfort him," she told him. "I-I don't mean to be in-insensitive... I... I just don't kn-know what t-to do... I... I love him so much... I-I-I don't want him t-to h-hurt..."
Danny held her a little tighter. "Then don't end things with him."
"I... I already did..." Autumn felt another lump forming in her throat.
"I know that, but he must not accept that you did because he left you quite the message on your voicemail..."
"Y-You heard wh-what he said?" she asked.
"Every word." Danny gave her bottom a pat.
Autumn repositioned her head on his chest. "What did he say?
His suspicions were correct, Autumn hadn't listened to the voicemail. "Well, I think you should listen to it for yourself, but he did say he loved you and he'd be picking you up tomorrow and taking you home with him."
There was a flutter in her stomach. "R-Really?"
"Yep. Do you feel better now?" Danny asked.
"Y-Yes... b-but... that still doesn't explain w-w-why he w-went out with that girl..." Autumn said feeling the butterflies in her stomach dissipate.
