I could hear the beeping and buzzing around me and feel a soft hand on my arm. My body was aching, but it was different than when I was in the hospital last time. Then I felt that there were tears dripping onto my arm, and I had no idea what had happened. Slowly and painfully, I opened my eyes to see Kirstin sitting beside me. Her head was bent as tears fell from her brown eyes. Kirstin's hand was gently resting on my arm. My eyes slowly flicked around the room, trying to locate the trio's other members. Scott! Where's him? Is he okay? Wait, is he dead because Mitch isn't in the room? Kirstin was sobbing, and I could easily see that there was something terribly wrong. Using my brain, I figured that Scott was dead. A shudder of grief, sorrow, and agony swept through my body, making Kirstin look up.

Me: K-Kirstin?

My voice was weak from the smoke and pain. Her brown eyes brightened when she saw me blinking at her. Immediately, she stood up and threw her arms around me. I pressed my face into her as she hugged me.

Kirstin: Kailyn!

I could sense pain and sorrow in her voice, making me wonder what could be wrong. She sat down, and I whined when I felt the cold hospital air. Kirstin laughed softly and put her hand back on my arm, but it wasn't the same.

Kirstin: I can't stand all day, sweetheart.

Me: It's freezing in this hospital, Kirstin! I need your warmth.

Kirstin: If there were enough room, I would climb into that bed with you, but there isn't, so I have to stay out here. I'm sorry, sweetheart.

A shiver passed through my body as I pulled the cover as far as I could. Kirstin rubbed my arm with her hand, bringing me very little warmth. Yeah, that helps plenty, Kirstin Maldonado. I thought bitterly as I continued to shiver. Then suddenly my mind remembered something: Scott and Mitch!

Me: Kirstin, where's Scott and Mitch?

Kirstin sighed, and then that made me think and believe that Scott's dead. Please no. No, no, no, no. He can't be dead! He just can't. My body shuddered and Kirstin looked at me with concern in her brown gaze.

Kirstin: What's the matter, sweetheart?

Me: He's dead, isn't he?

Kirstin: Who, sweetie?

Her voice was gentle as her hand continued to rub my arm gently. Then her brown eyes softened and she smiled as if she understood. Her beautiful brown eyes were filled with love, care, and comfort as she moved her hand to my face. I leaned into her hand and put my hand on hers.

Kirstin: Scott's alive, sweetheart. He's just severely injured. It's okay, sweetie. Mitch wants to stay by him, but if he wakes up anytime soon then he will tell me, so I can go see him. He's okay, baby. He's okay.

Her voice was still soft with care and unconditional love as she gently rubbed my arm. A smile spread across her face and she moved her hand to pick up mine. Her brown eyes were filled with pure relief and joy?

Me: What is it, Kirstie?

Kirstin: The fire actually helped you!

Me: How?

I don't feel that anything helped me at this moment. On second thought, I don't feel as weak as before. Maybe that fire did help me after all, unlike I thought.

Kirstin: Your legs were severely burned, but turns out there was an infection in one of your legs, which was causing the pain and weakness before the fire and after your surgery. When that leg got burned, it got rid of that infection. If all goes well, which the doctors are very hopeful about, you'll be walking in no time!
