I stood with Samantha's arms around me at the hospital. The sounds of the location whirled around me as I realized I had zoned out and was having flashbacks to all the times I had to watch Zac or Victoria do something to my little sister. Samantha was rubbing my back gently as I leaned into her.

Samantha: It's okay, sweetheart. She'll be okay. She's strong and besides she knows that you're safe. Remember in the ambulance?

Then Dr. Andrews stepped out of the room with a solemn look on his face. Oh no. My heart dropped as I watched him approach Jacob who had leaped to his feet as soon as he saw the doctor. By the look on Jacob's face it wasn't anything good. Samantha was aware of that and had a look of pure terror. Her green eyes were trained on the doctor and Jacob. The doctor soon left and Jacob turned towards us before walking over there. Tears were forming in his blue eyes as he sat down beside me.

Samantha: What did he say?

Jacob: They can't put her in a medically induced coma because she's already in a coma.

I let out a sob and buried my face in Samantha's chest. She held me close as she stared ahead. Jacob stood up and put his hand on her shoulder.

Jacob: I am going to go tell Scott, Mitch, and Kirstin. They ought to know.

Scott: What ought we know?

Kirstin was beside him and Mitch on the other side of him. He studied Jacob with his blue eyes as I wept into my big sister's chest. She was holding onto me and the next thing that I knew, I felt a soft hand on my back that wasn't my sister's. I lifted my head to see who it was and to my surprise, Kirstin was sitting beside me, rubbing my back gently along with my sister.

Kirstin: It's Kailyn isn't it?

Jacob nodded and Mitch stepped forward to Kirstin, while Scott just stood there. He shook his head to clear his thoughts before going to help Kirstin, but surprisingly she didn't want help and neither did she need help.

Mitch: Kirstin, how are you this way? A few days ago you were, well. Different.

Kirstin: Jessica needs me to help her and if I am upset, how can I help her?

Scott: You really are strong, Kirstie.

Kirstin shot him a small smile, as she rubbed my back softly. The doctor approached us again this time he had a gentle expression on his face.

Dr. Andrew: I can allow three to four to sit with her, if you would like.

I leaped to my feet and Samantha was beside me. We looked to Jacob as he came to stand beside us. I turned and grabbed Kirstin's hand. She deserves to be at my baby sister's bedside. She was the one that has cared for her when no one else was there to care for her.

Me: Come on Kirstin, you deserve to be at her side.

Kirstin: You sure?

Samantha: Yes, Kirstin. We are sure. Kailyn would want you there.

She smiled and followed us to Kailyn's room. I sat down on a bench with Samantha beside me and Jacob and Kirstin sat across from us on the other side of the bed. I looked at the doctor to ask an important question.

Me: May I hold her hand?

Dr. Andrews: Of course! You are allowed to touch her.

He laughed softly as if trying to help the mood. Dr. Andrews opened the door to allow a nurse to walk in.

Chloe: Thank you doctor, for letting me be her nurse.

Dr. Andrews: It was nothing Chloe. I know that you want to be by her side as much as they do.

Kirstin: Sir, why would that be?

Chloe: I'm her biological sister. Her only living sister.

Samantha: Chloe! I didn't recognize you. What are you doing up here?

Chloe: I got transferred up here short term. Literally as soon as I found out about this.

Samantha: I'm sorry about that.

It's my fault, Sam. Just tell her that. I watched as Chloe went and checked Kailyn's vitals. She made a face when she looked at Kailyn's breathing.

Jacob: Ma'am, is everything okay?

Chloe: Her breathing is well, umm showing that she isn't in a coma, but everything else shows that she is.

Kirstin: Wait, she's done this before. Back in May after the stage collapse. The doctors said the same thing, but she really wasn't in a coma. Could there be a possibility that she might not be in one?

Dr. Andrews: Now that you say that, I believe I remember seeing that on her record. That is a possibility and it appears that she's fighting to come back. I know one thing, she is a fighter.

Jacob: She's a soldier. She's been through the flames and the dust and she's still strong as ever. She is like the water that quenches my thirst.

Kirstin smiled as if she realized that he had referenced the song Water. I found myself dozing off against Samantha. My hand was on my baby sister's arm, as my green eyes closed slightly.
