I was leaned against by my fiancé on the front porch. His arm was around me as his thumb gently rubbed my arm. Today was his day off, so he was enjoying time with me. Scott was finally released from the hospital, so Kirstin and Mitch were on their way with him. I leaned more into him and he tightened his arm around me.
Jacob: You okay, dear?
Me: I love you, Jake. Also what are we going to do about our wedding?
Jacob: What do you mean, sweetheart?
Me: We can't have our wedding at the cabin, it's burned down.
Jacob: Didn't you say that we're having it next September?
Me: Oh yeah, that's right. Sorry, Jacob.
He put his head on mine and gently rubbed my arm. His blue eyes were soft with love and comfort.
Jacob: It's okay, babe. I understand. You've been through a lot. But okay, are you going to invite the Petersons?
Me: Yeah. I think that Jason, Samantha, and Jessica would enjoy coming.
Jacob: How many bridesmaids and groomsmen are we having?
I was quiet for a few heartbeats as I thought about how many we should have. I was happy that we would be able to chat like this without having anything happen. Should we do two? No, let's do four.
Me: Would four be good for you?
Jacob: That's fine with me as long as it's fine with you. Also, I love you too, Kailyn. Okay, so I know our first kiss is going to be after we say 'I do,' but am I allowed to kiss other places? Like your cheek?
Me: That's technically not the same as our first kiss. So of course, Jake.
Jacob smiled and gently kissed the top of my head. I smiled and leaned into him more. Then I thought about who I wanted to be my bridesmaids. Were we allowed to tell our future groom who we are having? Well, this isn't as traditional because we are having Pentatonix do the music. Scott and Kevin are going to play the cello and piano while I walk down the aisle, or at least that's what I heard. Kirstin is my Maid of Honor and Jacob hasn't told me who his Best Man is. I told Jake who was my Maid of Honor. I would suppose that it's his brother, Kyle. Okay, I will ask Malone to be one of them. It would seem right, if I asked her. That would leave three left. Samantha or Jessica? Jessica needs a chance to prove herself. Or I could do both. I then remembered that I had to ask Jacob if we would tell each other who we picked for our groomsmen and bridesmaids.
Me: Jacob, will we tell each other who we pick?
Jacob: I don't see why not. Do you have who you want already?
Me: Yep! Want me to tell you?
Jacob: Of course, babe. Who are they?
Me: Malone, Samantha, Jessica, and Hannah.
Jacob: Those are good choices. I know why you want to include Samantha and Jessica. You want them by your side, since Jason and Tiffany adopted you.
Me: Yeah. And they both struggle with being accepted by Pentatonix because of what Zac and Victoria have done. They are my sisters and I don't care what people think. I am just hoping that Scott and Mitch believe me when I tell them that they don't hate me. You should have seen Jess when I got released from the hospital. She must have thought that I was killed in the fire.
Jacob: She wasn't the only one that thought that. I thought that I had lost my bride.
Me: It takes more than that to kill me.
