CHAPTER 5

Alex

Surprisingly, the trip was only two hours away. The southern packs were all in one piece of land devided by invisible borders. But they were all under Tia's mate's command. That's what she explained to us the whole way here.

"I hope the ride didn't tire you that much, Beth will be here in a few minutes. She's in a meeting with her human friend" Tia said as we got out of the car, I could hear different heartbeats and scents again. With one human scent that was coated in.... Nadine's scent?

My heart started beating fast, my lungs forgot how to work and the air was coming in and out at a fast pace. I knew she wasn't here, I couldn't feel her but her scent was on someone.

'mate, Alex. Find mate please' Vee begged as he paced around my head, I heard Harley and Tia call for me but I ignored their calls. I dodged every person and wall that was in my way until the scent got stronger. I pushed the door open hearing two heart beats, one werewolf and one human.

"Who the hell are you?!" The female wolf yelled sounding angry, while the other human was confused. I could hear the human's heart beating uncontrollably in their chest.

"The scent on you, human... I know it. It's not yours..." I said stepping closer to human, I could hear the alpha standing up while few more footsteps made their way through the door.

"Alex!" Harley called, I tilted my head to the side feeling a punch coming right at my side but I dodged it, the human was trying to push me away.

"Kali, stop that! She's blind" Tia warned as the human tried to punch me in the face but of course I caught her fist before it collided with my skin.

"Kali?!" Harley and I said at the same time, I let go of her fist and backed away. My wolf seemed happy that we found our mate's mother which meant she was close. I put my hand over my blindfold and pushed it up to show my face fully.

"A-Alex?" I heard Kali say in a stunned tone, I can't believe after all these years I thought they disappeared from the face of earth I accidentally meet Kali. I was too deep in my thoughts that I didn't feel Kali's arms wrap around me.

"What happened to you Alex?" She asked letting go, I pulled down the blindfold hiding my white eyes and sat on the couch. I crossed my legs and leaned my head on my fingers.

"Since you already know about our world, I guess you should know that your daughter, the owner of that scent that's all over you, is my mate." I explained feeling the pain that I've been hiding all this time start appearing again, my muscles started to ach, my head as well.

"You left when I found out she was my mate, my body couldn't handle staying away from her. The pain and the crying has made me go blind" I felt her move forward and sit next to me, a hand was on my knee in a reassuring way.

"I promise Alex, If I knew it'd lead to you loosing your sight. I wouldn't have left, but Beth and Tia were attacked by werewolves and I was scared for my family. I didn't have a choice" Kali said sounding sorry, I could feel what she said was the truth and she was genuine about it.

"Hmm...how is she?" I asked after building up the courage, I heard Kali chuckle and lean back on the couch.

"She's doing great, a bit snappy but good." Kali said, all I could do was imagine when she got upset how her nose would scrunch or how her face will turn red when I said something she doesn't like.

"If you had a tail it sure will be wagging right now" I heard Harley joke, she was correct Vee was wagging his tail uncontrollably.

"How's Lina? I haven't seen her in forever." I heard Kali ask,

"She wanted to tell you about me, but I forbid her from doing so. I know Nadine will feel guilty" I remember how my mother would beg me to call Kali and ask her to come back with Nadine even if it was for one day, just so I could stop crying and stop the pain. But I decline everytime, I chose to suffer alone.

"She does feel guilty for leaving without telling you, she makes sure to remind me of that everyday" Kali sighed loudly, my head snapped towards her in surprise. She was sad that she didn't get to tell me that she's leaving? She felt bad about it? My poor little mate...

"She works at the company, but you gotta promise me you won't tell her about any of this.  Unless it's a matter of life or death. I can't risk her life Alex, please" She warned, I thought about it for a second before agreeing. Being close to her would fix 99.99% of my problems and that's all I ask for, just to be in her presence again.

"Fine, well since I'm already here how about we talk business" I could feel them look at each other confused, I asked Harley to hand me the papers we brought we us.

"Alpha Beth, I heard you and Kali have been doing business. My pack has a company of its own, I'm the owner since I'm the current leader. I'd like to join my company with yours and merge it into one" I said putting the papers on the table, it had all the successful deals we made when Torres was alpha and when I took over, also other important information that could help introduce the company's business.

"Alex, tomorrow I can hold a meeting at the company so we can discuss this further more. Where everyone could be present, including Nadine. Since she's the head of the business department" at sound of her name my whole body got goosebumps, how would she react when she sees me? I can't even tell if she'll be happy or not, specially if I don't see her facial expressions.

"Ehm..yeah that would be great. Thank you." I stood up and smiled at the both of them.

"My men and I will be making our way back, thank you for having us." I walked to the door and smiled at Tia, I could feel her just standing there during the whole conversation.

"Have a good rest of the day Luna" I said respectfully, before they could say otherwise I made my way out towards the car.

During the whole ride back, I could tell Harley was holding something in. Like she wanted to ask me something.

"What is it Harley?" I asked annoyed, she cleared her throat and sat up straight.

"Are you sure it's a good idea Alex? I mean you haven't been in each other's presence in 3 years?" She said as confident as she can, I knew she was worried about me. Worried I'd go back to being my old depressed self, but that was when Nadine was gone. I'm sure when I'm near her everything will be okay.

"I'm just glad I found her Harley, what happens next doesn't matter to me." I was scared in all honesty, I was scared that I'll lose her again right after I found her. That would literally destroy me physically and mentally.
