CHAPTER 9

Alex

I paced around my room nervously as I thought of all the things I said, I knew I seemed confident over the phone but on the inside I was screaming like a kid.

Was it too early though? Was I being to straight forward? But her voice....goddess her voice, so soft and soothing. I wonder how good she sounds when she moans...I need to stop before I get myself hard.

The door opened and I smelled Harley, she promised she'll help me pick up something. I knew we were just going for a coffee, to talk and stuff but I wanted to look nice. Not that I could see myself...or her. But still, if she finds me pretty I'll be happy.

"So, lover girl. I got the prefect fit for you." I heard her move towards the many clothes we brought with us. I heard her shuffle around and then walk towards me.

"What did you find?" I asked as she pressed whatever she was holding to my chest to probably see how it looks on me.

"Grey shirt, baggy beige pants and a black blazer. Maybe with some accessories, you know, rings, a chain" I heard her say, I imagined the outfit and nodded in agreement. I grabbed the stuff from her and waited but I didn't hear her move.

"Eh? Harley?" I said in confusion,

"Oh shit, sorry" I heard her leave the room a second after, I took off my shirt and wore the one Harley gave me. The other items were on my bed, I tucked the shirt in my pants then put the blazer on top, I put my black combat boots before leaving.

I had no idea what time it was and if I was late or not, but I just wanted to get out. Harley, Jeff and Dustin were all tagging along but they'll stay at a fair distance, just for protection.

"What time is it Harley?" I asked worriedly,

"10am, Alex you asked for the fourth time in the past hour." She said as we walked towards the car, the guys were already in the front and driver's seat waiting for us.

"I just don't wanna be late, first impressions matter." I said with a small smile, she snorted sarcastically knowing very well this wasn't actually my first time meeting Nadine.

"Also, I need you to alert me right away if anything seems weird" I ordered all of them, I pushed my sunglasses further on my face and man spread my legs while crossing my arms. I was being inpatient to meet with Nadine, I've missed her scent already.

"Shit" I said smacking my forehead, I forgot my stupid stick in the meeting room now one of them has to "guide" me towards the door and to my place because we're meeting in a public area.

"What?" Harley asked confused, I sighed and rubber my sweaty palms on my pants. I hate being guided around, like I was some disabled person who is helpless and can't do shit on her own.

"The cane you gave me, I forgot it at the company. So..." I sighed and turned my head to face Harley, I knew she was starting at me with bored eyes knowing very well where I was going with my words.

"You have to walk me inside the Coffe shop" I pointed at her, I heard her sigh annoyed but when I elbowed her side she quickly shut up.

I felt the car stop and I opened the door waiting for Harley to come to my "aid", I felt a hand grab my arm and help me walk away from the car and towards the coffee shop.

I could see the shadows of people walking by, the outlines of buildings but never colors or actually figures, just dark shadows that appeared because of sound echoing on a surface. So if I was in an empty space like a completely silent place, with no sound, I wouldn't be able to figure where the shadows were.

"Here you go, she's not here yet." Harley helped me sit on some random table inside the place the patted my shoulder before making her way out.

"Hello, what can I get for you?" I heard a feminine voice say to my write, I kept my head straight forward and smiled.

"Sorry, I'm waiting for someone, can you please come back when she's here?" I could feel her tense up, she was perhaps confused to why I wasn't looking at her while she asked for my order. Or why I had sunglasses when there was no sun and I was inside the shop.

"Eh, yes of course." She replied before leaving, I sighed and sat there in silence, I didn't know what time it was or how long it's been since I got here but I was getting nervous and scared that I've been stood up.

That's when I finally caught her scent, my head quickly shot up and Vee's tail started swinging excitedly as we smelled her get closer. Her heart was beating fast and she was trying to catch her breath. I tried my best not to turn to where she was standing and waited until she was next to me.

I felt her hand slide in my shoulder and oh lord, I can't explain what I was feeling. I never thought I'd find happiness just from her touch. I might sound dramatic but that's how my body reacted to her in general. Whenever she was around the level of dopamine in my body just goes overboard.

"Hi" she said softly, I smiled and I put my hand on top of hers hearing her heart skip a beat.

"Just when I thought you stood me up" I joked feeling her move her hand away which saddened me but she had to take a seat.

"I'm so sorry, something...unsual happened" she said sounding unsure, or scared even. Worry started to rush over me and I found myself sliding my hand forward to catch hers.

"What's wrong? What happened?" I asked worriedly, I felt a presence move around the place and make her way towards and from the scent it was the waitress from earlier. I felt Nadine pull her hand away and I felt... rejected? I don't know maybe she didn't mean to do that, but I couldn't help but feel sad.

"Hello again, what would you like to order?" She asked, I had no idea who she was talking to but I decided to speak first.

"Can I get a strawberry cheesecake with a cappuccino please?" I said politely, I heard the pen write against the notepad she was probably holding.

After we got what we wanted, we sat in silence and Nadine seemed like she wasn't comfortable. I didn't know why, was it the incident that happened to her before she came here?

"Nadine, is this making you uncomfortable? I'm sorry if I stepped my boundaries I-" she cut me off before I could finish,

"What? No no, it's not that. I was actually looking forward to seeing you. I just..." She sighed sounding frustrated,

"I think I'm just seeing things, but I felt like someone was following me here. Maybe just the stupid paranoia" she tried to chuckle it out but I knew she was scared and she seemed to believe someone was actually following her.

"Do you know what they look like?" I asked, I quickly thanked the waitress after she served our food then went back to talking to Nadine.

"Nadine, I promise you no harm will come near you. Just tell me what they look like..." I said once again, I felt a hand slide on top of mine and I stiffened at the sudden warmness.

"I'm fine Alex, I'm just being paranoid" she gently rubbed her thumb on my knuckles trying to calm me down, I knew she wasn't saying the truth. I have to be extra careful, she's just human and with all the rogues being around she could be hurt, she'd be dead before being able to react properly.

We spent the morning talking about her and work, what she did in college and I was really enjoying her company I just wished I could see her beautiful face again. This curse was preventing from appreciating my mate's beauty...

This chapter is just an introduction to what's going to happen next, it doesn't really have a lot of important events hopefully the next one will be more interesting.
