CHAPTER 23

Alex

She was somewhere close, I could smell her and sense her. She was scared and I couldn't stop remembering what I saw in my dream, I ran through the woods trying to get a small sniff of her scent, I just needed that one small particle and I'll find her.

I found myself in front of a basement door very similar to that of my dream only it was on the ground, it was in the middle of nowhere with no other building or housing in the area. The door was wide open and a faint scent of Nadine was coming from there.

I ran inside the dirty place and it was so filthy and stinky, I looked around and found multiple torture tools and one scalpel had my mates blood on it. Which only made my fears worse, he hurt her and I was going to hurt him so bad he won't be recognized.

She either escaped or he took her somewhere else, the scent was there so I was sure she wasn't far. I ran out of the place following after my instincts, I could smell Hector's nasty scent somewhere but I didn't know where he was exactly and I didn't care all I wanted was to get Nadine.

Her scent got stronger and I saw her from afar, she was naked and her back was filled with whip marks. She was running towards the cliff without any idea she's literally about to fall to her death. Since it was very dark and the cliff was hidden behind massive trees she wouldn't even know it's there till she's right on the edge.

I was getting closer to her and she was about to turn around but she ended up tripping, I watched her fall forward rolling around on the ground and she had no control over her movement, so she wouldn't be able to stop.

I ran faster and slide down on my stomach feeling every little rock and branch cut my stomach and chest but I didn't care at all, all I wanted was to get to her on time.

My hand grabbed tightly on her wrist just as she fell, my other hand was grabbing on the ground with all my strength so I can keep myself balanced. Her soft teary eyes looked up at me like she didn't believe I was actually here.

"I got you baby" I whispered pulling her up quickly, I stepped back with her still in my arms safe and protected while she cried her heart out. I reassured her and kissed her head while she gripped to me for dear life. I took off my shirt and threw it over her head to cover her naked body.

"Tell me everything..." I said grabbing her face, I pulled her away from the edge with my arms still wrapped around her shoulder. Then this weird sound started getting closer, it was like a very high whistling ear deafening sound. I winced and gripped my ears, the sound was too much and I had sensitive senses specially my hearing.

The sound only got worse to the point that I couldn't hold my screams of pain. My ears started bleeding and ringing, I tried to look up and Hector was right in front of me with a creepy smiled. He pulled his hand out and blew on it making some type of weird dust go in my eyes. So now I was ripped out of both my strongest senses, I couldn't hear shit and I couldn't see either.

I didn't know if Nadine was still next to me or not so I slowly swung my hand to my right where she last was and when I felt a spark I knew it was her.

'Nadine, If you can hear me in your head. Break whatever is making this sound' I yelled through our link, the blurry view I had wasn't enough to tell where the sound was coming from but it was enough to see Hector's huge figure a few feet away from us.

I saw him run towards me but it was too late to react he was already in front of me, he punched me hard and I did the same. The sound was fucking up my perspective, and I wouldn't even know he's about to punch me until his fist hits my face.

"Your little mate is going to carry my pups, I'm gonna play with her just like the pet she is" he said closer to my ear, I was boiling inside and my anger was taking the best of me. I kicked him in the guts and he fell back, I stood up trying to figure out where he fell.

"You can't see..." I felt something sharp cut my left arm so I swung my fist to hit him but I didn't touch anything.

"You can't hear..." then the sharp object cut my right leg making me wince, I felt so vulnerable and weak but I had to make sure Nadine is safe even if it means I die after. I kept backing away from him as well as throwing punches hoping one would hit him.

"I win..." He said behind me, the sharp knife punctured my back and I screamed in agony. I don't know what he had it dipped it but it wasn't just a normal cut, the outlines of my deep cut hurt so bad. It felt like the knife was on fire and it was burning my skin.

Then everything went silent for a moment, the ear deafening sound wasn't there anymore and all I heard were three heartbeats. Mine, Nadine's and the person standing right behind me. Hector...

"Alex!" Her voice stopped my train of thoughts so I ignored the agonizing pain in my back and the knife still pierced in it and turned grabbing Hector by the face.

"You'll never have the satisfaction of touching my mate, Hector" I mumbled,

I put my hand in his jaws and opened his mouth harshly ripping it apart then quickly pushed my claws deep in chest and ripped his heart out as well. I pushed the corps back waiting to hear a quick thud but it took a few seconds before a loud sound was heard that's when I realized I was at the edge of the cliff.

I backed away but not by far, my legs gave up on me and my whole body was heating abnormally, I felt weak and unable to move. My body fell to the side, I couldn't hear very well anymore, not even Nadine's running footsteps that reached me a moment after I fell.

Her voice was almost like in slow motion, the world around me was spinning and with the blurry eye I looked up at Nadine, I couldn't see her clearly all I saw was her blurred figure. I tried to reach for her but I couldn't even pick up my arm.

"No stay with me! Please" I heard her soft voice in my ear and her unbelievably delicious smell coat my tired body. My tongue felt like it was too heavy and so were my eyelids, so I just enjoyed her touch on me and her soft words trying to keep me awake.

But it was too late, a rush of coldness hit my body and I felt myself shiver. The sounds slowly started to fade away and I was only left with Nadine's perfume lingering around me.
