CHAPTER 24

Nadine

"Alex! Stay with me please" I cried out, I was holding her face in my hands so gently afraid to hurt her. Her skin was cold as ice and she was taking small breaths at a time, I heard someone running towards me and I looked up seeing Jeff and I've never been so glad to see him.

"Jeff! Help me please! She's dying" I yelled for him, he ran closer to me and dropped next to Alex's body. I watched as he picked her up,I waited for him to start walking back towards the forest but no.

"Jeff? What are you doing??" I yelled as he slowly walked closer to the edge, his eyes were filled with tears as he stared into oblivion.

"I, am Harley's brother...I didn't die that night." He started with a shaky voice, my thoughts were scattered everywhere at his sudden words. What was this guy saying, he was walking to the edge with Alex and that's all I cared about, Alex's safety.

"I was saved by my now father, he lost his biological son and he made me take his place and pretended I was him this whole time. That's why Harley never smelled my scent, I was embarrassed to be her brother. I thought she forgot about me..." he cried silently, he finally looked at me with a sad look.

"I never had the courage to speak of it. I was scared and ashamed of myself..." He cried silently, he started taking steps backwards until he reached the edge.

"I'm sorry Nadine but I have to do this...for my sister" he whispered in a sad tone before taking another step back.

"No!" I watched as Jeff threw himself backwards with Alex in his arms. I ran towards the edge but I couldn't see anything, it was too dark and I couldn't see the bottom of the pit.

"Oh god! No!" I screamed out, my heart was breaking slowly and my eyes blurred out with tears, I screamed and cried as loud as my lungs can go.

I felt arms wrap around my body but I tried to get myself out of their grip, I'll follow her. I'll go after her, she can't leave me...

"Nadine, please stop" a voice tried to calm me down but all I wanted was to jump after her.

"Let me please..." I cried,

"where's Alex..." Lina's soft voice said, her hand brushed my hair out of my face. I gripped on her shirt trying to ease the pain but it wasn't working.

"He jumped...with her" I mumbled with the last tiny amount of energy I had in me. The other people from her pack were here as well, including Torres who had worried and terrified look.

"What?" Lina asked in disbelief, my tears wouldn't stop falling, my heart wouldn't stop hurting and my body wouldn't stop shaking. I shivered in pain and leaned against Lina, who was still looking at the cliff in disbelief.

"Go look down there!" I heard Torres yell at his pack members,

"But Torres, it'll take us over two days to reach."  One of the guys said, I was helped up on my feet and they put a blanket over my body.

"I said go!" Torres yelled at the boy who quickly went running along with three other guys, I don't even know how my legs still worked but I was walking with someone by my side with my thoughts all over the place.

I don't even know how long we've been walking because it was sunrise already. I looked up at the beautiful sky as it slowly got lit with sunshine.

"C'mon Nadine, let's go inside" Lina said sadly trying to keep her strong personality but her voice snitched on her, she had this broken tone like she was on the verge of breaking. I walked inside the house and I sat down on the couch.

I found myself spacing out with the thoughts of Alex, I put my hands over my head because it felt too heavy on me. My vision slowly started to blur so I lead down on my side and decided to let the dizziness take me into a deep sleep.

I woke screaming again from another nightmare, for the past few weeks I've been having dreams of that night when Jeff threw himself and Alex over the edge and that scene has been replying in my head day and night.

They went looking for Alex and Jeff's body so they can give them a proper burial but they came back empty handed saying that the place was impossible to cross to, it was too dangerous for anyone even a werewolf to go there.

The rocks were sharper than claws, the air was hotter than hell. Torres was furious and even went himself a couple of days later but he as well came back with no good news.

"Another bad dream?" A voice said from the door, I looked up at Lina who had a sad smile on her face. I laid back rubbing my sweaty face with my hands, I huffed and touched the ring attached to my necklace. It was the one Alex gave me before she left.

"Yeah, I'm getting tired of them." I mumbled, a hand on my arm made me look up. Lina was sitting at the edge of the bed.

"Go get ready, your parents will be here in a few" she said with a smile, Lina was the one who's been holding her tears in out of all of us. She been trying to act strong for her kids, she didn't want them to see her cry. I've found her crying late at night with an empty bottle of whiskey, that was the only time I saw her cry.

"Oh Stacy wants to talk to you about something important, she said it has to do with your body or something" Lina said catching my attention, why would Stacy want to talk to me about my body? Did she have a vision again? Was I sick?

The whole time I showered I was thinking of what would be so important that Stacy would wanna talk to me about.

I put a white shirt and a grey hoodie that both belonged to Alex because I can smell her perfume on them. I put panties on and black sweatpants before slipping my feet in a pair of socks then put my crocs after that I walked downstairs.

"Morning everyone" I said walking in the kitchen, Torres, Lina, Liam and Stacy were sitting around the kitchen table have breakfast. We've moved back into their old pack and Torres is their leader again until they find a fitted alpha.

"Nadine, can I speak to you outside?" Stacy said with a smile and pointed to the door with her eyes. I nodded and followed after the 13 year old outside, she pulled me far away from the house as she can and sighed.

"You should eat more healthy Nadine, skipping meal and eating junk is not good" she said folding her arms in front of her. I rolled my eyes trying not to smile, this little girl was telling me to take care of myself you'd think Alex's personality was somewhere inside her.

"I don't feel like eating lately, anything I put in comes right out" I chuckled and looked around us, the place was so calm, it had a lot of trees and vast fields.

"Yeah because they don't like it" she said with an attitude making me look back at her with a confused look.

"What?" I asked the teenage girl, she sighed and pointed to my stomach. I was still not getting it, or I didn't wanna get it.

"Stop playing Stacy, it's not funny" I chuckled dryly, no I can't be. We've be careful everytime we had sex, we made sure Alex either wears a condom or pulls out.

Except that time in the bathroom....fuck.

"No I can't be..." I paced around nervously, then I looked at Stacy again.

"And what do you mean they?" I asked her, she picked up two fingers and showed them to me making my eyes almost fall out of my head.

"Twins"
