CHAPTER 6

Nadine

The amount of time I spent thinking of her is unhealthy, to the point that I got sick for a few days. How can she kiss me like that? Now the only thing on my mind is if she's kissing other women the way she kissed me?

It's been three long fuckin years and all I can think about is her. I thought I hated her? I thought she was disgusting? I thought she was immature and rude? But all those hateful words disappear with a simple kiss from her.

Last night my mom came back home with a pale face, she said she was at aunt Beth's for a business meeting. My mother and I knew something was wrong with her because she avoided the topic like the plague.

She said tomorrow we had a meeting and I had to be there, this new comer has made an impact on my mom for her to act like this.

I stood in front of the mirror and fixed my black pencil skirt, the white shirt looked amazing. I left my hair down and put a but of makeup to match what I was wearing, I put my black heels on then went downstairs.

"Morning" I mumbled, mom, Kali, was seated on stool with a cup of coffee in her hands. My momma slid a plate with my breakfast on it than made her way upstairs to start getting ready for work.

"Why do you look scared?" I asked sipping my coffee, her eyes widened but they soon went back their normal size.

"What? Me? Nah I'm fine" she said and I gave her an unconvinced look then rolled my eyes. If we wanted to be there on time we had to leave right now.

"Are we driving in the same car? Or you wanna go alone?" She asked grabbing the car keys, I showed her mine and she understood that I'll be driving myself there. I don't let anyone drive me, I like it when I'm alone in my car.

I got in my car and drove away first, the road was insanely busy because it was 7 something in the morning and everyone had work. I sighed and decided to take a different path, it was a short road that's usually used by the farmers on the rural part of the city. But hey, it'll get there on time, even before.

I took a left turn and the loud noises of the busy city was slowly fading away, and I found myself driving in silence. I opened the window and smiled in satisfaction at the clear and pure air.

Something suddenly caught my eye, deep in the forest between the trees I saw a black shadow dash through them. I started having deja Vu of the day I was leaving and I saw something move. No, I must be hallucinating again.

I was quickly woken up by a loud popping sound, I jumped scared and confused at what just happened. My car came to a stop and I found myself in the middle of nowhere with a popped tire.

"Great" I mumbled, first thing I did was close my windows and lock the car before checking my phone for any signal, unfortunately, there wasn't any signal in this area. I sighed and looked back at forest to try and find that shadow again but it wasn't there anymore.

"I guess I'll stay here until someone passes by" I played some music on my phone while busying myself with games I've downloaded a while ago. It hasn't been thirty minutes when I heard a car getting closer, I looked through the mirrors and indeed a black SUV was driving about to reach where I was parked.

I quickly got out of the car and waved my hands for them to stop. The car slowed down before stopping right behind my car. A tall man with brown skin and black hair and moustache left the car from the back seat and I was starting to regret getting out of my safe seat.

"Hey! Are you alright?!" He asked walking closer, I smiled and nodded my head. The car was fully black and tinted, I couldn't see a soul inside.

"I need to change my tire, I tried to call someone but there's no signal" I told him as he got closer to where I was standing. He kneeled next to the tire and examined it before sighing.

"Do you have an extra tire in your trunk?" He asked looking at me, for a moment he looked like he was deep in thoughts before her shook his head and went back to smiling. Why is he acting like this? I'm actually genuinely scared right now.

"I don't know? Maybe? Can you check please?" I'm not gonna turn my back to him, cause he can easily hit me on the back of my head while I take a peak at my trunk and he'll push me inside. I watched too many murder documentaries, I need to relax.

"My name is Jeffrey, no need to be scared. I'll just help you and get going" he said with a smile that seemed genuine but I still don't trust him, he has the same name as a serial killer and we're in the middle of nowhere.

He opened my trunk and grabbed the extra tire I didn't know I had along with other tools that I don't recognize.

He started removing the tire with the twirling metal thing right after the car was lifted with whatever thing that was, now I regret not letting my mom teach me about cars I really had no clue what the tools were called.

In a few minutes he was already done, he set the broken tire in the trunk and dusted his pants. I smiled at him and gave him my hand to shake, he was about to shake it when he suddenly jumped back like someone yelled at him.

"Sorry....eh tics" he said scratching his neck awkwardly, I thanked him and got inside my car and immediately started driving. When I reached an area with signal I noticed the many missed calls I had. I dialed my mom's number and waited for her to answer.

"Nadine?! Where the hell are you?" She yelled over the phone,

"Sorry mom, my car broke down in the middle of nowhere. And I didn't have signal to call you or anyone" I explained as I parked in the building's underground parking lot, I turned off the car and pulled the phone to my ear as I made my way towards the elevator.

"Mom I'm here, see you in a minute" I said before hanging up, for some reason I found myself getting nervous to meet this new business partner. Why so sudden?

When I stepped out of the elevator still looking at my phone, I didn't see where I was going and I bumped into someone. I felt myself tripping and falling forward, I gasped staring at the ground getting closer and my face was going to kiss it.

My heart was beating so loud, I could hear it in my ears. I was breathing heavily as I stared with my eyes wide at the ground that I almost face planted with. An arm around my waist was holding me tightly then gently pulled me back against their chest so I can stand correctly on my feet.

"T-thank you" I said still not looking at my savior, they pulled their arm away and when I turned behind me my eyes almost popped out of my head at the sight of her. Was it really her? She seemed different, she even looked different. Why did she have sunglasses inside the building?

"Are you alright?" She asked, did she not recognize me? Or was I tripping? Was it not her? I know that face more than I know anything, and she had a wolf tattoo on her neck so that must be her. She was wearing a full black suit and a black coat on top, she was still so tall and handsome. God, I missed her face.

"I- yeah I'm fine?" It came out as a question, I sighed fixing my skirt. I was still speechless, I haven't changed at all how can she not know who I was?

"Excuse me? I'm trying to find the meeting room but since..." She put her hand in her coat pocket and pulled out a folded stick. My hand flew to my mouth in surprise, I couldn't believe what I was seeing.

"... I'm blind. It's hard, nearly impossible for me to find the room. Can you lead me to it, if that's alright?" She asked politely, I was still stunned with what I just found out that I forgot to answer her.

"Hello? You still there?" She asked confused as she slide the tip of her stick on the floor until it hit me on my ankle.

"Eh- yeah yeah sorry" I quickly went to her side and wrapped my hand around her arm, she was still fit and I could feel her muscles. Stop it Nadine.... She stiffened for a second like she wasn't expecting me to be so close to her or to hold her. Did my mom know about her being blind? If yes, why didn't she tell me?
