CHAPTER 14

Alex

When I left Nadine's house I shifted immediately in the forest close to where she lived and made my way to the hotel, I have told Jeff and the other two yesterday that I won't be able to come until today. So they were probably waiting for me, I'm gonna pretend like Nadine didn't say anything to me and I won't show them that I could see what happened to my right eyes.

'how dare you doubt our mate Alex?!' I heard Vee growl in my head, I've always been betrayed and lied to and I have my doubts about everything. Most of the time it be your own people that stab you in the back, she could genuinely like me back but she also could be just faking it. I hate how the world and time made me so paranoid and less trusting.

'I don't doubt her Vee, I'm just being cautious' I replied as I reached the end of the woods, I shifted back putting my clothes on. I made my way inside making sure to not take off my glasses when I go in the room.

"Alex" I heard her voice and I was trying so hard not punch her face, I looked up at Harley who had an annoyed face but when she spoke it she sounded happy to see me. Fake bitch.

"Harley" I replied with a smile, I walked past her and made my way inside. Jeff and Dustin were watching something on Tv, I sat next to them and sighed.

"Are you guys done packing?" I asked, I noticed Dustin and Harley eyeing each other while Jeff looked clueless.

"Yes, we're packed. You gonna talk to alpha Rogan?" Harley asked curiously, I avoided looking at her to not seem suspicious and nodded in agreement.

"I don't think I'll be able to go along with the agreement, we'll go back to our pack and be independent" I said, I noticed the different energy in the room, anger was most what I felt but it quickly disappeared.

"Oh, cool cool. I agree with you honestly, there's nothing better than to be with your own people" she said with a smile on her face, a fake one obviously, I sighed and folded my arms in front of me thinking what I'm gonna do with Nadine and what she told me.

"What about your mate?" She asked as if she read my mind, I still wasn't sure what I'm supposed to do I think I should take her with me and let Beth take care of the protection of the rest of The Martins.

"Hmmm she'll be staying" I said and I took a look at her face and I saw her wink at Dustin and smirk, that's when I was sure they'll try to get to her when we leave.

'Beth?' I said through my link, because she was an alpha and so was I and that allows us to link each other.

'yes Alex?' she replied, I stood up and made my way to my room and pretended I was packing my stuff.

'I need you to protect The Martins, ask them to move in with you to your pack. I have a mole in my pack and she's trying to hurt Nadine' I said putting my stuff in my duffle bag,

'I'll tell Kali, just make sure you get rid of this traitor' I picked up the stuff and went downstairs putting it next to the other luggage.

'Also, I'm taking Nadine with me. Tonight I'm gonna go see Rogan, I'll accept the alliance but I'm too suspicious of Hector.' I said sitting down on the couch, Harley wasn't in the room anymore and I couldn't smell her anywhere close.

'Get Nadine to your pack, now!' I said to bed and got up, a hand grabbed my wrist and I looked down at Dustin.

"Are you okay alpha?" He asked, I yanked my hand away from him and grabbed him by the neck. Jeff was confused on what was happening he just stared at the both of us.

"You think, you can hurt my mate and betray me? Hmm? I know what you're plotting you disgusting piece of shit" I put both my hands on his head and twisted it so fast, I heard a loud crack and he drop dead on the ground.

"Follow her scent" I ordered Jeff feeling my wolf about to come out, he bowed and left the appartement in a hurry. I made my way out of the hotel and headed to Beth's pack, I had to get there before Harley.

'Nadine is with me, we're making our way to the pack.' I heard Beth in the link, I sigh in relief at least she was safe with Beth until I get there.

'thank you Beth, I'm heading there as well' I said taking off my clothes when I reached the forest, I put the items in my wolf's mouth and  started running through the woods, my wolf was dodging every tree in our way. Suddenly I caught a nasty scent that made me look around.

'rogues' I said in my head, in my chest I had this uneasiness. I knew something was wrong, maybe the rogues have reached Beth which means the uneasiness was Nadine being in danger. I picked up my pace trying to reach them as fast as I could.

A few minutes later of running none stop, my mate's scent was filling the air. I was in an abandoned road, the one that took to Beth's pack by car. From afar I saw a big brown wolf standing in front of my mate and shielding her with their body and by their smell I could tell it was Beth. The car they probably used was parked on the side with the front doors open.

A rogue was sneaking behind her, I ran towards her and jumped on the greyish wolf biting its neck and swinging his whole body around like a toy. He dropped dead on the ground, I turned to look at Nadine and she was just looking at me curiously with her puffy eyes. I stepped closer to her and she flinched, I tucked my tail under me and pulled my ears back to show her I wasn't harmful.

"Alex?" She whispered and my tail started wagging in happiness that she recognized me, her eyes widened as she started at something behind but of course I already felt the movement behind me before she could notice them, I waited for the wolf to get closer and I turned to paw them in the face, my claws poking the rogue's eye. I stalked towards the falling wolf and growled, before it can growl back at me I broke their neck with my jaw.

'They left' I heard Beth say in the link, I turned to look at Nadine who was sitting on the ground with a scared face. I head butted her leg letting her know she was safe and I felt her hand caress through my fur.

I went back where I came from to look where I dropped the clothes, when I found them I shifted back putting them on before running back to Nadine. Beth was still in wolf form and I gave her a confused look.

'I ripped the clothes when I shifted, I'll meet you both at the pack. Be careful' I heard her say before she left, Nadine stood up and ran to me wrapping her arms around me.

"Let's get you to somewhere safe princess" I kissed her head and helped her inside the car. The whole time her hand was interlocked with mine like she was afraid to let go. I need to deal with Harley before she takes things too far.
