CHAPTER 20

Nadine

We walked downstairs, or Alex did, I was limping there but trying my best not to show it. I heard her chuckle behind me and I flipped her off before walking to the kitchen, thankfully there wasn't anyone there.

"Go make breakfast yourself" I said with attitude then sat on the stool, Alex kissed the top of my head and open the fridge grabbing eggs, cheese, sausages and butter.

My legs still hurt and I was annoyed because of that, I laid my head on the table and just listened to my own thoughts along with Alex's footsteps and whatever she was doing with the kitchen tools.

"Hello" a younger voice said behind me, I turned to find Liam, Alex's younger brother staring at me with a toothy smile. He waved at me before running to his sister, Alex picked him up on her shoulder and continued with the cooking.

"Where's everyone?" Alex asked the boy, he was resting his elbows on her head.

"I don't know, mom told everyone to go for a walk until you guys are done playing" he said innocently making me choke on my own spit, my eyes widened knowing what he meant. I looked at Alex and she just licked her lips with a stupid smirk on her face.

Alex handed me a plate with scrambled eggs and sausages with a glass of orange juice then put Liam down on his feet. The boy ran out of the room and left us to have our breakfast.

"I told you you're loud b-" I heard her say and I quickly cut her off with a kick on the leg. She chuckled and ate her food.

"Shut the fuck up, Alex" I said annoyed, she cut my sausages into smaller pieces and stabbed one with her fork then guided it to my lips.

"Say ah" I heard her say in an amused tone, I rolled my eyes and opened my mouth to let the piece in. She smiled at me and kissed my cheek.

"I'm not a baby" I mumbled as I chewed, she shook her head no and turned to looked at me again.

"No, but you're my baby" she winked at me before going back to eat her food. I felt my cheeks heat up, I don't know how she still makes me blush after all what we've done. I honestly don't mind.

"It's already past noon, and I have to go on with the plan." We were already done with our food and we were heading to Torres' cabin, I was holding Alex's hand as I listened to what she was saying.

"I'm going to need you to stay in the house with mom and my siblings. I'm going to leave Jeff with you for protection" she opened the door to the cabin and we were met with Torres, Lina and Jeff all sitting in the living room. At the sound of our footsteps they turned to look at us, I felt the heat crawl to my face and I found myself hiding behind Alex.

She smiled at everyone and pulled me in front of her, I was busy looking at the ground in embarrassment that I completely zoned out from their conversation. Hands caressing my arms woke me up from my day dream and I looked up at Alex who was towering over me.

"Baby?" She called for me with a soft tone, we walked to the couch and sat down next to Lina.

"So you all going to stay here, until we get back. Jeff will be protecting you, and if anything happens link me" Alex pointed to Jeff with a hard look and he nodded.

"We'll be back tonight" Torres said to all of us but specially to me, Jeff and Lina. I watched as Liam ran upstairs to where Stacey was and Lina followed after him. While Torres and Jeff went out of the cabin leaving me alone with Alex.

"Please be careful" I was afraid something bad would happen, inside I had this feeling that I didn't quite understand. It's like some type of warning, something telling me that this was a bad idea that she shouldn't leave me here.

"I will, I promise" she kissed my forehead and pulled me in for a hug, I just sighed knowing there was no chance I could change her mind and I had to accept the fact that she had to do this for the sake of everyone.

"Here" she said pulling a ring from her pointy finger, she had a lot and she wore them all the time except when she slept or when we had sex obviously.

"This one is my favorite, I'll be back to get it." She put the silver ring in my palm and I just smiled at it, it was too big for me but I still tried to put it on. She got up and headed to the door, she gave me one last wave before she left the cabin.

"See you later baby" I whispered to no one, but I knew she heard it. I played with the ring in my hand and went upstairs to look for Lina but I ended up going in Stacey's room.

"Hey Nadine" she said without looking up, the girl had a notebook in her hands and she was sketching things on it. I walked closer to her and sat on the bed, so I can see what she was drawing.

"It's so pretty" I said staring at the drawing of a forest, trees were everywhere and you could see the sky and grey clouds that seemed to be filled with rain.

"Thank you, I draw whenever I'm sad..." She whispered then showed me that the whole notebook was full with drawings.

"I'm always sad" she sighed and went back to her sketch,

"Why are you sad Stacy?" I asked curiously, she was a very bubbly kid before we left. Was it the fact that her bestfriend was taken away from her all of a sudden, is that what made her feel like this?

"Alex is going to die" she whispered making my heart sink, I let out a dry laugh because I thought she was joking at first but she wasn't, her teardrops slid down her cheeks and into her sketchbook.

"What are you saying Stacy? Why would you say that?" I asked the girl again, for some reason I had a feeling she was telling the truth I just needed to know how would she know.

"You know we're all adopted, my mom made sure that we're all supernatural kids, Alex is a werewolf while my brother and I are descendents from a witch so we smell like humans that's why Alex doesn't know what we are..." The girl explained closing her sketchbook and turned to face me, her green eyes held sadness and guilt.

"I still can't control my powers, so when I touched Alex the other day I accidentally saw how she dies. I didn't mean to, I don't know how I did it" she cried harder, I pulled her in for a hug and tried to calm her down.

"Is there a way to stop this Stacy?" There must be a way, Alex can't die, she mustn't. I found myself silently crying as well.

"I don't know...I really don't know Nadine." She whispered, the little girl hiccuped and sniffled.

"But all I know, was Alex was in the woods and someone was sneaking behind her, I didn't see their face and they stabbed her from the back. That's all I saw..." Stacy said pulling away from the hug, I brushed her hair out of her face and smiled trying my best not to seem hopeless.

"Alex is a big girl, she can handle herself. She's going to be fine" I reassured her, but I didn't even trust my own words, I almost seemed like I was trying to convince myself. I was just saying these things so Stacy won't cry, or blame herself if something bad actually happens to Alex.
