CHAPTER 27

Nadine

I hugged Jayden closer to my chest with my eyes shut afraid to look at the beast in front of me and what it'll do. I waited for something to happen but nothing, I slowly opened my eyes and the wolf was just sitting there with a curious look. It was sat down with its head tilted to the side, the red eyes were watching my every move.

"Nadine! Don't move" I heard Torres say, my heart was beating fast but a hand on my face was trying to make me calm down. I looked down at Jayden who was staring at the wolf with a smile. She let go of my shirt and crawled towards it, I tried to stop her but it growled at me.

"Don't you growl at me" I pointed at it and I watched its ears drop but right after they went back to being pointy, when my daughter threw herself on its furr, the wolf pulled its head down and gently brushed it on my kid who was hugging it like a it was a big teddy bear.

'She's beautiful' I heard a familiar voice in my head, I looked up in surprise and the wolf was already staring at me. The red eyes held something that I didn't think I'll ever see again, I heard a tiny howl behind me followed by paws running towards us, Kai ran to her. She leaned down licking Kai's fur in a gentle way like a momma cat would do to her kittens.

"H-how?" I said loudly for her to hear, a growl behind startled me and Alex stood growling back at whoever was standing behind me while hovering over the twins with her body.

"It's fine! I'm fine guys!" I said to the guys behind me before she kills them, she seemed to have calmed down before she bent to lick Kai's furry head.

'I can't shift back, my human was badly hurt so now we're stuck like this'  she said in my head, I looked behind her and watched as her tail moved slowly from side to side while Kai tried to catch it. As for Jayden, well she feel asleep on the ground in a very uncomfortable position.

'Beautiful pups you have here, I wonder who they belong to' I could hear the smirk in her voice while her wolfy eyes stared at me. I picked up a sleeping Jayden and covered her with my jacket.

I just sat there dumbfounded still not believing she was actually alive, well her wolf is. I don't even know if she'll ever shift back, Kai seemed to be tired and with wobbly paws she tripped and fell face first in front of Alex who just scooted her closer.

'I'll pick her up' I heard her whisper in my head, she leaned down picking Kai by her scruff and stood up walking past everyone and they didn't dare growl or stand in her way. I stood up on my feet with Jayden in my arms and followed after her. Torres just stared at me then at the black wolf walking in front of us with a confused look.

"I guess she didn't die after all" I mumbled still surprised, I kissed Jayden's head and just walked quietly next to Torres while watching Alex intensely.

Many minutes later we were back at the pack, everyone was staring at the new comer with awh and surprise. They could feel the power radiating from her, we reached the house and she stopped in front of the door and waited for us to open it. When she walked in she put Kai on the couch and slowly circled her before cuddling around her.

I sat down in the chair in front of her and just waited, I didn't know what to do or how to feel. I just held Jayden while she touched Kai with her snout to see if she was awake but the pup was in a deep slumber.

'What are their names?' she asked without looking at me, I smiled unconsciously and brushes Jayden's brown hair out of her face.

"This little one is Jayden, and that one is Kai" I finished by pointing to Kai who was sleeping on her back with her four paws in the air.

'Pretty' I heard her say, we stayed like that for a moment before she looked up at me again.

'I'm guessing you want to know what happened' she asked and I nodded putting Jayden down next to me in a comfortable position so I can rest a bit.

Alex

*Flashback*

The sound of thunder woke me up from my deep sleep, my body was aching and my head was burning with fever. I looked around me to find nothing but the rock sticking out of the wall that I was standing on. I looked down to see a body scattered at the bottom of the cliff.  

I was lucky enough to fall on something and not right at the bottom, I felt weak and tired but I had to get myself out of here. I had to climb, my vision was blurred and my stomach was turning and I felt like throwing up. I started climbing up the cliff, one small crack followed by the other, I climbed none stop till my fingers started to hurt.

When I reached the top, I was barely able to pull myself on the ground so I just laid there and let the rain hit my cold body. I don't know how I survived the fall or the poisonous knife but miraculously I did.

'we have to shift Alex, you won't survive if we dont' Vee, my wolf said in my head. I didn't even have the energy to shift, I felt that my stomach was sick so I turned to the side and emptied it.

'I...can't' I replied, but with the last bit of energy and life I had in me I felt my bones shift and with the help of Vee I turned into my wolf. But soon after, I lost control over my body. He was guiding us and feeding us while I just watched through his eyes.

We stayed like that for months, I wasn't able to communicate with anyone because I wasn't in control I was just a soul inside Vee. We spent our days, months hunting and sleeping around different territories.

Until the day two small pups wandered right into my tree, one of them was a curious girl while the other was too cautious. The black pup bumped into me because she wasn't looking in front of her so I growled at her to tell her I wasn't one to play with but the brown one came running towards me, she bit me and tried to protect the other one but I just stared at her amused.

'how cute' I said to Vee who was too deep in thoughts, I asked him what was happening or why he was so dazed.

'I protect' he mumbled and pushed the black pup on the ground, I chuckled at her reaction because she started pulling and biting my paw.

With the corner of my eye I noticed the brown pup sneak closer to my side then snuggle to me. A weird sensation rushed over my body, like I felt a connection to them but I didn't know what it was, I didn't know if it was instincts or something else.

A few hours later of them sleeping and cuddling closer to my furr, I heard paws coming from afar then low growls. I pulled my head up and noticed wolves staring me down, behind them....

'mate?' Vee mumbled, but his focus quickly went back to the wolves approaching us. I stood up on top of the two pups protecting them and growled back at the stupid intruders.

At the sound of her beautiful voice, one of the pups ran to my mate. When the other tried to go I stepped on her tail and she growled at me making me smirk. So tiny and fierce.

And smart...

*End of flashback*

'That's what happened, I just hope I recover soon and find the energy to turn back to human' I said to Nadine, she was staring at me with tears running down her face. I wanted to hug her and tell her everything was going to be okay, but I was stuck like this and have no idea how to shift back.
