CHAPTER 21

Alex

We were a lot, over tweety of the strongest wolves. Torres, Bree and I were at the front but when we reached our old territory border they stopped. I was the only one who's going to go in, when I find Harley and Jackie I'll call for backup.

I felt a hand on my shoulder and I turned to look at Torres. He smiled encouraging me and I nodded, I took a deep breath before crossing the territory. I walked further from the border so I don't seem suspicious until I started to smell different scents. One of them I recognize, I stood still closing my eyes and just listened to my surroundings.

I heard their heavy breathing, their heartbeats and their paws stomping on the ground. I could count how many they were easily, they were a lot but not enough to beat us. I smiled when the one scent I've been looking for joined, I sighed and waited.

I realized that my perspective of seeing things with one eyes wasn't good in a fight since one side will always be a blind angle, I digged my hand in my pocket and took out my blindfold, I put it on and waited for them to arrive.

"Well well well....what do we have here?" Jackie's voice said, around me stood about a dozen wolves plus Jackie. The familiar echolocation ability was getting back, the vibration of their paws and beating of their heart was giving me vision of their exact locations.

"I have trusted you Jackie, with my family and my pack." I started in a calm voice, none of them dared to move because they know even though I'm blindfolded I could still see their movements.

"I am sorry Alex, it's nothing against you really. I'm just following my mate" Jackie stated and I felt another heartbeat next to her, Harley was standing next to her mate and I could tell she was smirking feeling the egoistic energy that she radiated.

"I'm going to give you a chance to surrounder, submit to me and I'll spare your lives. All of you..." I said to all the wolves that surrounded me, then my head looked towards Harley.

"Except you...because I'll never forgive you" I pointed towards her, I heard loud footsteps running behind and I quickly dodged the angry wolf and grabbed him by his tail, I pulled him back to me and grabbed his neck and twisted it. I heard a thud and one heartbeat less than before.

"Are you sure you wanna do this?" I asked annoyed, I don't want to hurt the other wolves they were probably manipulated into this but those two will suffer the consequences. I felt Jackie move her hand around like she was giving a signal and all the wolves started attacking me at the same time.

'It's time'  I said through the link, before dodging one who was in human form. I grabbed her by the hair and saw a wolf running to me with his jaw open, so I pushed her towards him and he closed his jaw on her splitting her body in half without realizing.

With all these wolves trying to kill me I still had my attention on the two main scents, Harley and Jackie. They just stood watching the scene.

"Is this all you got!" I yelled clawing one wolf on his neck slicing it open, I'm lucky I could let my claws out in human form.

I was too busy fighting this weak guy when some stupid mutt bit me on the thigh, I screamed and pushed my fingers in his eyes making him let go. The one I was holding by the neck took that vulnerable moment and scratched my face with his claws. I turned to look at him and squeezed his neck tight it cracked in my hand so I dropped him down. Dead.

Suddenly we were surrounded by Torres and Bree along with the other pack members, everyone stopped fighting and started looking around them at the huge amount of wolves ready to kill with one signal from me.

I could hear Harley's heartbeats increase and I smirked, I snatched my blindfold off of my face. Harley knew it was over for her but she still tried to contain herself. Bree was standing right behind her with a smirk, she had her claws out ready to kill Harley but I shook my head no.

Her stupid mate Jackie made the worst mistake and the last she'll ever make and that she shifted and tried to attack me, but before she could reach a white wolf bit on her neck and strated yanking his head from side to side killing her instantly. That white wolf was Torres taking revenge for his wife, I smirked and looked at Harley who's eyes were wide open in horror as she watched Torres snatch Jackie's head from its place. He seemed satisfied with his work.

I walked closer to her and smirked, she was right on front of me and I was thinking of all the ways I could torture her but before I could speak she beat me to it.

"You will suffer the same...very soon" she threatened, in a blink of an eye she had her claw on her own throat and dragged it across. I watched as he blood gashed out of her neck and mouth slowly. I cussed and kicked her dead body because how dare she kill herself before I torture her.

"Well, this was easy" I mumbled rubbing my forehead then wincing because the bastard fucking scratched me.

"The rest send them to the cells, I'll deal with them later." Everything seemed to go smoothly, even too smoothly and I had a feeling I'm missing something.

'F-fire'  a weak voice mumbled in my link, a voice that I recognize as Jeff's. Fire? My eyes widened in realization and I sped up back towards the cabins, they were a bit far but I was running as fast as my legs could take me.

My lungs were burning, my legs were aching from running and the bite I had but I didn't stop, not even once. I just kept going until I reached the cabins, everything was on fire. Every single one of them, my family, my mate were inside...

I ran through the dead bodies on the ground as I made my way towards Torres' cabin where I last left Nadine and my mom. I gasped at the burning house, everything was in flames that you couldn't even see the door. I couldn't smell Nadine's scent anywhere and I was starting to panic. None of them were inside, they must be somewhere. I started looking around trying to find anyone.

"Have you see my mom?" I asked one of the pack members who was limping away from the fire, she shook her head no and kept getting away.

"Come on, where are you?" I mumbled looking everywhere, I decided to follow after the people who survived.

"Are you okay?" I asked an elderly woman who was leaning against a younger girl, she smiled sadly and nodded. I kept looking until I caught a faint scent, that of my mother. I fastened my pace following it until I reached the very last few people. She was leaning against a tree holding Stacy and Liam closer to her, while Jeff laid on the floor holding his arm, but no sign of Nadine.

"Mom!" I called out loud catching her attention, I ran to her and kissed Stacy's head and brushed Liam's hair. I looked at my mom who had a worried look on her face since I was covered in blood.

"I'm okay...where's Nadine?" I asked her, she just avoided my eyes and looked down at her feet. I turned to look at Jeff and he was doing the same.

"Jeff, where the fuck is my mate!" I grabbed him by the collar, my wolf was going crazy. He knew something wasn't okay with our mate, we could sense she was still alive but she was hurt.

"H-he disappeared with her..." He mumbled wincing while he held to the huge cut on his upper arm.

"Speak!" I yelled pushing him on the ground, he fell down harshly with a yelp.
