South Korea, February 1933

3 years had passed after the phoenix onslaught.

Kim Joon was sitting in a not so secluded forest area in Mapo. This had been his sanctuary for the past three years. He moved from Italy to Korea to hide from the Council. The entire Phoenix clan was totally eradicated for unknown reasons and Joon was the only one who survived. He comes back to Italy from time to time, planning for his revenge. He's working with a few purebred vampires who escaped from the uprising. They had one goal, to kill the Elder. Him being the most feared phoenix was not enough, he needed allies. Allies to go against the greedy and merciless Elder.

He gathered a few dried woods together to start a bonfire. Fire. Giving him comfort always. He flicked his fingers, fire appeared on his fingers, lighting the dried leaves to start fire. He was shocked when a voice spoke in his behind.

"Wow. Fire appeared when you snapped your fingers." A beautiful lady sat in front of Joon, her deep dark eyes twinkled as the leaves started to burn, igniting more fire. She wasn't scared? I produced fire. It was the first time a mortal saw him with his fire power, and she wasn't even scared at all.

"You are not afraid? Surprised?" He asked curiously. The lady was wearing a doctor coat, her wavy hair flowing down on her shoulders. Beautiful. His eyes remained looking at her, mesmerized with her beauty.

"Does that make me weird?" She answered happily. She offered her hand for a handshake. "I am Dra. Jihyo. Song Jihyo. And you are?"

Joon stared at her hand blankly, which was still at mid air since he did not accept the handshake yet. Jihyo cleared her throat. "Jihyo, you are?"

Joon never interacted with a mortal in his entire left. Having relationships with the mundane is a hard no for an immortal like him. Her smile attracted him like a magnet. He shook her hand eventually. "Joon, Kim Joon."

"It's nice to meet you Joon. I would bet my short life span, you don't belong with normal people." She said cheekily. How on earth would she know I am not a mortal?

"I have a brother, and he is a vampire. What breed are you? I don't know if vampires have powers to produce fire?" She answered amused. He was dumbfounded.

A mundane. A mortal. Casually talking about creatures of The Netherworld nobody would believe it exists. And she was not scared. Seeming to have read his thoughts, she continued her story.

"My brother died during World War 1, and apparently her girlfriend is a vampire. She's a very nice girl and took good care of me when I was young. She loved my brother so much, she resurrected him. Sadly when she went home to Italy, her entire family was killed leaving my brother devastated."

Joon's face was surprised. A mundane. Having a good relationship with a vampire. "What breed are you?" She asked you once again. "Can you produce fire again with your hands?"

As if it's an open secret now, he flicked his fingers stronger, producing larger flames. Jihyo clapped her hands like a kid. "Wow, beautiful."

Her black pitch eyes turned amber as she stared intently on fire.

Joon's heart is beating like crazy for a mortal.

Their eyes met. Joon's amber eyes look at her with great intensity. Jihyo gave her sweetest smiles, making his heart pound faster.

"I have phoenix blood." He muttered under his breath, his eyes never leaving hers.

They stayed under the glowing bonfire that night. Sharing each other's life stories.

And that night, a love blossomed between a phoenix and a mortal.
