Iza just sat there staring at the dumb fish. She should get away from here. A skeleton lay beside her, but that was it. The carp had hidden and were not coming out.

Her eyelids were drooping, and her tail burned. She had to take a look at it. She hadn't done so all day, which gave her the fear of tetanus or something.

Iza swung her tail around to inspect it and hopped away from the pond in horror when glimpsing the stained mess.Part of her beautiful tail-fin was gone, just like that, in a clean knife stroke. Just like Toothless and his tail! Iza took another good look around the ravine. The mossy boulders and swaying trees were now not half as serene. It looked just like the ravine that her tutor had described. And that squiggly line? No! That perch? This pool? Those scratches?

Iza wailed. The only way out was to fly, and that option was now closed, and she was stuck in the dreaded pit where  Toothless once walked. After licking her poor tail a few times, and screeching her displeasure she stomped over to the line and rubbed it away with her foot. She then flopped weakly and hugged her ruined tail. Then she remembered the wooden shield. If she could just blast through the rotten wood....

Iza's heart hardened, and she lifted her self. She turned to face the circle of damp wood and ran towards the shield. She rammed into it head-first,flicking her ears, hoping to smash it into kindling. She bounced back from the furious impact, frazzled.

It did break into tiny pieces, to Iza's delight, and she picked herself up again and deftly started up the tunnel. Her head hurt but she didn't care. Her ears were erect and her posture proud;she had braved the obstacle thrown at her by Fate! Her fin wasn't all gone..It would still regrow in the end. All she had to do was get to Berk...yes. Who cares that Toothless lives there? He's away half the time. Also, sanctuary.

Iza paused and her nose twitched with displeasure. No...someone may try to tame her. That would be horrible. But she could stop them. She was brave and spirited. She had sharp claws and an army of dragons. Sort of.

Iza then plunged out of the tunnel into the daylight and out of the ravine.Rays of light fell through the gaps in the evergreen, and the grass was springy and soft underfoot. She smirked as she looked back. Why hadn't he just gone that way? Then her smile faded. He had no hope of life without his fin, and Toothless was much more bulky then Iza.

She raised her head and sniffed the wind. The smell of the woods was overpowering, but she thought that she could also smell dragons and humans mingling. She followed the scent towards Berk, through the woods.

She must of taken a wrong turn or so, because she ended up on top of a cliff overlooking the village teeming with dragons. There was a huge, light brown wooden catapult, big enough to house three of Iza right beside her, loaded . If she could clamber in, and set it so that she would land into those woods next to the village....

Iza swiftly climbed in, keeping her tail high. She settled in the bowl, and looked down. She just had to snap that rope, and DAR SHE'D BLOW!

Iza reached down. To her delight, she could easily access the frayed rope. She slashed at the overgrown string. Just when her claws made contact she panicked. I forgot to position it so i would fall int-!

And dar she blew.

She shot over the abyss of the ocean, the whistling wind screaming at her ears. She herself screeched as she sailed through the air, towards an opposite cliff.

Mid-flight, her body straightened and she was now shooting  a bit more gracefully, wings outstretched to their fullest. But that only lasted a few seconds, and she teed off to the left, because of her missing rudder. Iza now wailed helplessly, spinning towards land.
