"Stop the wagon." I declared.
A few meters from us is another black wagon. Standing next to it, was the back of the noble knight of Andalusia, Galahan who was talking to the bandits.
Is he making a deal with them? Surely it wouldn't work without dragon's blood. We've been negotiating with them for months now which is why we're here. I've decided to give them what they're looking for.
"Shall I go see what the matter is, Duke?" Khalil volunteered.
"No, we wait." I said sternly.
A few moments later, a woman in boots and a trench coat went out of the wagon with a bag in hand, followed by two other knights. Galahan was leading the way together with the bandits as they walked to their base located deep into the woods.
Khalil and I looked at each other, knowing what I'm thinking. Something is indeed suspicious.
Who is this important woman and what was their deal with the bandits? Does she have dragon's blood?
So many thoughts came rushing to my head.
"I've never seen her before." Khalil blurted out, interrupting my thoughts.
"As I." I muttered calmly.
As the infamous duke in this kingdom, I know every small detail of every noble here. No one gets away from my attention. This intensified my curiosity.
"Shall I follow them?" Asked Khalil impatiently, getting more curious than I am.
"Galahan will sense you right away. You remember he's a weredog right?"
"Ahhh" Khalil slumped to his seat in defeat.
"Again, we wait." I said nonchalantly.
After half an hour or so, Galahan and the woman emerged from the canopy of trees where the bandits were hidden.
Following them were five or more bandits, and it seemed like the leader was one of them. He wore tattered bottoms and walked with no limp and no sign of any wound at all.
The leader, having a victorious and grateful smile etched on his face, shook hands eagerly with the woman, whose back was facing me.
"It seems that the battle is over, Khalil. We're no longer needed." I concluded after seeing the friendly exchange between the bandits and the mystery woman.
"Let's go." I said in haste, as I adjusted my body closer to the window.
Khalil wanted to protest because he wished to investigate some more, but we were not in a strategic position and he knows that. So, he chose the wiser option which was to stay silent.
Their wagon started moving as ours did, but we were going the opposite directions. Hence, when our wagons passed each other, I had a good look at her.
Brown hair with brown eyes met with mine. She was wearing a dark bandana over her nose and mouth, as if hiding her identity. Although she's wearing a mask, one can't deny her beauty. It was just a split second, but then my heart pounded hard like it wanted to go out of my chest. I have just been sitting the whole time.
What's this? Am I ill?
Taking no account of what I just felt, I focused my eyes on the road towards the manor.
Though her face and eyes never left my mind after that encounter.---
"Shall I go now?" Khalil asked.
"To where?" I asked without looking up from the papers I'm holding in my desk.
