"Ya a'right?" Daryl nudged my shoulder. I nodded my head and smiled reassuringly at him. After our kiss Daryl hadn't left my side which I didn't mind. Just earlier today I had yearned to be in his presence and here we were, sitting next to each other after a make out session. Tara and Maggie had stared at us confused at first but it soon turned into smirks. I could only imagine what they were thinking so I did my best to ignore them.
Michonne and I unpacked our finds. The group cheered when I held out the bottles of wine. Glenn handed out glasses as Maggie poured everyone a glass, except for the kids, while Sasha and Tara worked on cooking the grouse I had shot earlier.
We sat in a circle and sipped on the wine as we ate our dinner. Daryl sat next to me on the bench and chugged back the wine. I laughed and almost spat out my food when he did.
"What?" He muttered.
"Skipping right to the drunk part are we?" I stifled a laugh.
"That's the whole point." Daryl shrugged while digging into his meal. I smiled and shook my head at him.
"So," Glenn drunkenly stuttered. "Are ya going to sing for us again Ruby?"
My cheeks blushed as the group stared at me. I shook my head, "I don't think so."
"You sing?" Daryl raised an eyebrow, a small smirk on his lips.
"A little but I'm not that good."
"You're just being modest!" Sasha shook her head.
"Yeah, you should've heard her." Maggie smirked as I glared at her.
"Let's hear it." Daryl poured himself another glass of wine.
"I think I'm gonna need another drink before that happens." I laughed.
The group laughed as Glenn stood. "Are you chicken?"
He imitated a chicken by clucking and moving his arms as if they were wings.
"Are you already drunk?" I laughed. Most of the group stared bewilderedly at Glenn. Everyone then started laughing, even Michonne.
"Can't blame me! It's been a while since any of us have had alcohol."
"Remember the last time?" Carol shook her head.
"It was at the CDC." Glenn face palmed himself as memories washed over him. "Remind me not to drink that much again!"
"You were at the CDC?" I looked at Glenn in shock.
"The original group was." Glenn cleared his throat as he glanced at a sombre Rick. "I think that was the first time that Daryl actually warmed up to us!"
Daryl grunted as he placed his plate on the other side of him. "Well ya didn't give a great first impression."
"What happened?" I asked.
"They handcuffed my brother to a roof in Atlanta and left him there." Daryl shrugged.
"What?!" I gasped. The others seemed unfazed.
"We lost the key." Glenn explained. "We went back and Merle was gone."
"Everything but his bloody hand!" Daryl chuckled lightly. Was he serious? From Glenn's facial expression he was serious.
"Merle was sort of an asshole." Carol spoke, trying to explain why everyone didn't seem fazed.
"Sort of?" Daryl cocked an eyebrow. "He was an asshole. An asshole that saved our lives by trying to take out the governor!"
"Holy shit." I leaned back on the bench and took a sip of the wine.
"Yeah." Daryl huffed. "It's in the past though."
