A/N: Song is for the end ;)
__________________________Groaning, I slowly sat up and held onto my aching head. I felt the bed for Daryl but found that his side had been made. I squinted my eyes as I peered around the room. The sun light was very bright on my eyes. I rolled out of bed and slowly made me way down the stairs and out the front door. The fresh air felt amazing as I hunched over and steadied myself.
"G'mornin'." Daryl mumbled, smoking a cigarette.
"Morning." I groaned, sitting on the steps.
"How ya feelin'?"
"Like shit." I rubbed my temples. This caused Daryl to chuckle. "How do you feel?" I asked as I squinted over at him, leaning my back on the wood beam.
"Good."
"How?" I whined. "You drank the same amount as me!"
"It was whiskey though," Daryl cracked a smile. "Ain't as strong as moonshine."
I groaned and rested my head back on the beam. "Remind me not to drink that much ever again!"
"A'right." He chuckled lightly. We sat in silence as the memories of last night flooded my head. I side eyed Daryl as he continued smoking.
"T-thank you," I stuttered. "For last night."
"Yep." Daryl mumbled as he took one last puff and stomped it out. "C'mon, let's eat."
Daryl and I cooked up the other trout and a squirrel for breakfast. After eating I changed into my usual attire: black t-shirt with a v-neck, dark washed boot cut jeans, wooly socks with my old pair of leather hiking boots, and my leather jacket. I pulled my hair into a high pony tail and buckled on my belt and adjusted my knife in it's holster. On the other hip I had my fathers revolver in a holster. I had found a holster that I took from his gun cabinet. I also gave Daryl my dads 30-30 lever-action rifle. He had inspected the gun and loved it.
I eyed the cabin and every detail of it as if it were the last time I'd ever see it. Daryl sat outside while he burned the garbage and our clothes we arrived here in. I had given Daryl another black and charcoal grey plaid button up shirt that had rips in the sleeves. Daryl then decided to cut the sleeves off so that he could wear it on the hot summer days. It took a lot of self control not to drool over him as his muscular arms were showing.
I had all my items packed in my backpack and a few canned foods for us. I even took my moms hair brush so that I would never have to deal with matted hair again!
Sauntering down the stairs I eyed the cabin one last time before walking out the front door and locking it up. I placed the key back where it belonged and turned to Daryl.
"Ready?" Daryl asked.
"I'm ready." I nodded, adjusting the compound bow on my back.
Daryl and I climbed over the fence before trekking through the woods to the main road. Once on the main road Daryl followed me as we sought out Alexandria. We hoped the group had made it there.
Along the way we killed a few walkers but it was nothing we couldn't handle. I took out the map that I had taken from the cabin and eyed it closely. Daryl and I argued over which way to go. In the end he won and we headed down a back road hoping we'd make it there before nightfall.
We came upon a graveyard along the gravel road which thankfully didn't have any walkers residing in it. Daryl walked by as I gazed at the headstones. I swallowed the lump in my throat as I followed behind Daryl.
"Should be there in a few hours." Daryl grunted as he continued forward. I exhaled a deep breath, adjusting my gear on my back and followed behind him.
