"Don't let go Ruby." Daryls voice pleaded. "Don't give up on me.""I won't." I whispered as I pulled him in for a kiss. Our bodies entwined and meshed together as we kissed each other hungrily. Tingles of electricity shot through me as his hands roamed my body. My fingers ran through his hair and pulled him closer to me as his grip on my waist tightened. Our moans echoed throughout the night as we made love in front of the fireplace.
My eyes opened slowly as the erotic dream ended. I had bear hugged a pillow to my chest in my sleep as if it were a real person. It brought me some comfort but didn't satisfy my want and need to hold Daryl. I wanted it to be real but it seemed like a far fetched dream. The sun peaked over the horizon signalling the start of a new day.
To wash away my arousal I snuck over to the bathroom and had a cold shower. Thankfully I brought my clothes over with me so that I could change in the bathroom and not have to walk down the hallway passed Daryls room wrapped in a towel. My body shivered at the thought of him undressing me with his eyes. I slipped on my undergarments and then my jeans, navy blue t-shirt and my leather jacket. I then buckled on my belt and wrapped the cross around my neck. Before heading back to the room I de-tangled my my hair, double Dutch braided my hair to the sides, brushed my teeth and put on deodorant. Daryls door was still closed so I quietly walked by and grabbed my gear before heading out.
Rick had stopped by last night after Daryl had stormed out and asked if I wanted to join them on the supply run. I immediately agreed as it would allow me some distance from this place. Plus if I saw walkers I could take my frustration out on them.
I jogged down the road with my katana, backpack and bow. The arrows jingled as they bounced in the quiver. I smiled as I met up with Rick, Abraham, and Sasha at the gate.
"Someone woke up on the right side of the bed!" Sasha grinned at me.
"Good morning to you too!" I grinned.
Rick walked up to me with another member of Alexandria and introduced us, "Ruby this is Spencer. Spencer this is Ruby."
"Nice to finally meet you." Spencer lightly smiled at me as he shook my hand.
"Likewise." I returned the smile.
"I'm pairing you two up for wall watch tonight. Sound good?" Rick pointed at us.
"Works for me." I agreed. Spencer nodded his head before heading towards the church. I eyed the church as I saw a familiar face stand outside in a black suite.
"What the hell?" I whispered, turning to Rick. "What is he doing here?"
Rick rested his hands on his hips, "We couldn't leave Gabriel behind."
"After he abandoned those women and children?" I raised my eyebrows.
"We've all made mistakes Ruby." Rick reasoned. "I'm not thrilled with what he did but he brings a sense of hope into this community and that's what some of these people need."
"Or a god damn reality check." I sighed, crossing my arms over my chest.
Rick placed his hands on my shoulders which forced me to look at him, "I need you on my team Ruby. We need to make this work here because we have nowhere else to go!"
I wanted to tell Rick about my fathers old hunting camp but when I stared into his eyes I knew he was right. This place, as much as I hated to admit it, was what the group needed.
"You have my support." I assured him. Rick thanked me before calling a meeting. Myself, Sasha, Abraham and Rick stood in a circle as Rick explained the plan. As the group started piling into the truck a roar of a motorcycle engine started in front of the vehicle. As Sasha and I sat in the back seat I leaned forward and saw Daryl on his bike.
