I sigh as I walk down the hallway and see meredith pressed up against a locker by a guy she's kissing.

I walk over. "Mer" I say. She pulls away, looking at me. The guy walks away.

"Hey, what's up?" She runs her fingers through her hair. "Do you want to work on this project with me for science?" I show her the papers.

"I was gonna work with cristina" she says. "Oh, okay.. nevermind" I say. "No, but I'll work with you instead" she says. "Oh, really?" I ask. She nods.

"Good" I wrap my arms around her. She giggles as we walk down the hallway. "Has anyone told you that you look absolutely gorgeous today?" I whisper in her ear. "Just you" she smiles.

I kiss her cheek. She grins. "No! Ahh!" She squeals as I pull her into a classroom. "Shh" I chuckle.

"Theres a teacher" I whisper. "Oh" she chuckles. We're supposed to be in class right now so we can't be caught.

Merediths pov:
"What are you two doing?" We hear from behind us. We turn around. My breath catches in my throat as I see Joshua sat by the window smoking.

I tap derek, signaling for him to talk. "Hey" he walks over to him. They do one of those boy hugs, tapping eachother on the back, making me roll my eyes.

"Hey, you're um.." Joshua looks at me. "Meredith" Derek says. "Oh, you're the one who bled all over your pants" he says. My lip trembles. "Um.. meredith- meredith is in the cheer team" Derek walks over, wrapping his arm around my waist.

I nod. "Oh, you know Tiffany?" He blows out the smoke. "Um.. yes" I say. She's the cheer captain. "Thats the one your screwing?" He slaps Derek's arm.

Derek gives me a look. "Not screwing.. I've just been hanging out with her" Derek says. "Oh.. and are you two hanging out too?" He asks suggestively.

"No, me and derek are friends" I say. "Best friends" he corrects me. I look at him. He grins. "Fine.. Best friends" I giggle.

"Infact.. meredith is single" he says. "Derek" I say. "Oh is she?" Joshua chuckles. "She's pretty, isn't she?" Derek says. "Der stop" I whisper.

"Can she get your number?" He asks. "Derek!" I raise my voice slightly. He walks over to me. I step back slightly, looking up at him.

He grabs a pen from my pocket. He takes my hand. I hold my breath in as he writes his number on my hand. He walks past me, leaving.

I look at derek. He smiles. "Ahh!" I scream, jumping into his arms. He laughs, spinning me around.

He puts me down. "Derek! I got his number! I got his number!" I jump up and down, showing him. "I know baby, well done" he grins, hugging me.

My smile fades slowly. My heart aches for him. I put on a smile again as he pulls away.

"Um.. how is it going with you and Tiffany?" I ask. "Good! Its going good" he smiles small. "That's good" I stroke his jaw gently with my thumb. He nods.

"Wanna go?" He asks. "Okay" I say. He opens the door for me and we leave school, walking home.
