Angst and graphic violent depictions. Sort of eating disorder. Happy ending though. Request by AnnaGaddy1

N was in the corpse spire: an eerie place he called his home. Wind howled distantly, and the sun crept inside through the gaps in the walls.

It felt like it was getting longer and longer between each feed. He couldn't in good conscience kill the workers. After all, he found out they were not so different from him.

N sat down in the snow, nervously picking at metal scraps in the ground. Uzi was supposed to be back soon. She had been going out a lot lately on supply runs. He worried about her. While she couldn't die in the sun like him, he still worried bad things could happen to her.

N bit his tongue, hoping the sharp pain would snap him out of his harsh reality and into a better place. It didn't help. He tasted his own oil in his mouth, and it made him so very very hungry. He was beginning to get desperate for more oil.

N eyed the heads and bodies that made up the corpse spire, wondering if they would spare him from this hunger with a drop of oil. He had gone so long without oil that his internal fans had stopped functioning and he was overheating. He didn't know if the heat or the hunger hurt worse.

N took a deep breath, breaking from the trance. He was fine, right? Not deathly overheating yet. He could try and hunt again soon. Things would be okay.

N looked down, seeing he had clenched the metal scrap he was fidgeting with so hard that it cut deep into his palm. A think trickle of oil spilled forth from the cut, and it snapped him right back into his killer-like programming.

He was so hungry. He just needed to eat, right? That would make the pain stop. That would make the overbearing heat subside. That would make everything better.

N shook his head vigorously. He had to remember Uzi. He didn't want Uzi getting hurt because of him. V was still tied up inside the pod. He had been giving her two thirds of the oil he got, ad taking the other third for himself.

Why couldn't she see that he loved her? Was it so hard to remember the single letter that was his name? N felt the hurting inside of him intensify. It was more than just his body that hurt.

Why can't she just love me back? I'm trying so hard to be a good drone. I just wanted to be a valid asset to my team. N slouched forward, hand gripping his shoulder in a tense manner.

It hurt so much. He wanted it to stop. He needed to feed. It was becoming unbearable. His thoughts were spiraling out of control, he was overheating, he was worried about Uzi, and he was just so hungry.

Desperately, he held his cut hand to his mouth. He was going to drink the oil from the cut, but he knew that would make things worse. Instead, he licked the wound so that his saliva would knit the soft cut metal back together flawlessly.

He pulled a corpse out of the wall. More light filtered in and shone respectively on the snow. N backed himself into the shadows with the corpse and hungrily ripped into it.

He tried draining anywhere he could bite, but there wasn't a single drop of oil to be spared. His body was growing hotter and he saw warnings pop up onto his visor. N coughed dryly.

He was beginning to feel so tired. He layed down, almost hoping the cold snow would leech the heat from his body. Glitches began to overcome his screen, and he saw a shadow run towards him. He felt powerless as the dark shadow picked up his head. 'Why aren't my night vision sensors working?' He wondered wearily.

A voice desperately calling his name along with a sharp slap to the face kicked a few of his sensors back into working. Through the obnoxiously blue pop up warnings on his visor, he saw Uzi.

N smiled weakly, "H-hey Uz-zi." His voice glitched.
"Bite me! Are you okay? What's happening?" Uzi yelled frantically.
"Ne-eed oil." He cried weakly.

He was beginning to lose focus again. He watched what seemed to be Uzi discard her jacket and make a long cut down her arm with her pocket knife she always kept on her. The oil dripped from her arm and she guided it into his mouth.

The oil was warm and sweeter than he'd ever had. Maybe it was the meaning that made it sweeter? N gratefully took the oil and felt the pain of hunger slowly fade into a memory. He felt the cold waves of his internal fans beginning to function again.

When his sensors started working he saw Uzi crying over him. N blinked and pulled her down to sit while he himself sat up. He licked down the length of her arm to fix the jagged cut she had made.

N looked down at his friend and the tears streaming down her face. She surged forward into his arms and wrapped her arms around him tightly. "I w-was so scare-scared of losing you, yo-you idiot!" She stuttered out through her tears.

He moved his hand to the back of her head and ran it through her soft purple hair. She held him tighter and closer. "It's okay now, Uzi. I'm not going anywhere so long as you want me around. Thank you." N said softly, feeling on the verge of tears himself.

"Please stay. I need you." He heard Uzi whisper softly into his coat. He smiled and let the tears stream down his face as well, knowing they were there for each other and it was okay to cry.
